When it comes to beauty looks, Charlize Theron isn’t a celebrity we associate with playing it safe. No stranger to a hair transformation, the Mad Max star has test-driven everything from a shaved head to bright red curls to some of the best bob cuts we’ve ever seen.
And though she’s rocked every look with complete confidence (and so she should’ve) there is one hair trend that she doesn’t look back on quite as fondly.
That is? The ’90s arch AKA thin eyebrows.
In conversation with InStyle, Charlize confessed that her biggest beauty regret was “hands down, the thin eyebrows in the ’90s.”
“I’m still recovering from that,” she said. But with over two decades since this trend had its heyday, Charlize’s narrow arches are hardly the actress’s standout brow moment (at least not for us anyway).
After all, how could anyone forget when she bleached and partly shaved her brows to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in her Oscar-winning role, Monster.
Now that was a look we’re actually recovering from.

I am forever grateful to my younger self for never jumping on the ‘thin eyebrows’ trend. I would have been disappointed if they didn’t grow back!

Me too. Mine need constant tinting but still have lots of hair.

Overexposure to mid day sun here in Australia. Got bad pigmentation. Never had issues overseas.

I never had thin eyebrows, I didn’t like them and wouldn’t suit me.
Using peroxide on my teeth to whiten .I damaged the enamel and had to spend a fortune on dentist bills.
Was that peroxide in toothpaste? How were you whitening your teeth?
No that would have been ok.I used peroxide straight as I thought if it was in toothpaste it must be safe.More is better theory but it didn’t work and cost me a fortune un the years after.
I’ve never messed with my brows, I don’t have any real beauty regrets thankfully.
Thankfully never found thin eyebrows appealing.

My biggest regret is sun damage. I looked at my skin under a Woods UV lamp (for sun damage diagnosis) and I was shocked at the amount of sun damage that isn’t visible to the eye on the skin surface

My biggest beauty regret is not having good eyebrows to start with. I was never a plucker because there wasn’t anything to pluck.
I’ve never been brave enough to pluck my eyebrows anyway. They’d just end up a funny shape.

I like doing eye brows by my self and always happy with the results.
Eyebrows are one of those features that should never be messed with to follow trends. Trends change all the time
Always thankful I didn’t try anything extreme in any way when I was young – probably boring but I’m comfortable with that.

I also got a perm as I wanted curly hair and with my very thick hair I felt like a sheep !!

Me too… my goodness! I haven’t had my brows waxed in over a decade.. trying to grow back what can. It’s hard this day and age where big bold brows are the thing… still not sure I want to get on the brow tattooing trend though!
