Sex And The City fans rejoice; HBO Max’s reboot And Just Like That has officially been renewed for a second season. And you know what that means? More of Carrie navigating life in her mid-50’s, from love interests to fresh-faced makeup. And maybe the biggest move of all: ditching her iconic tight curls for soft, effortless and undone waves, which have been styled to perfection every episode at the hands of Sarah Jessica-Parker’s personal hair-extraordinaire, Serge Normant.
In fact, speaking to Grazia UK, And Just Like That’s hair department head and wig maker, Nakoya Yancey said “[Serge] is a legend, an icon, he’s been doing her hair forever.” “We use his volume spray all the time,” she continued, speaking of the Serge Normant Dream Big Instant Volumising Spray. “It really carries SJ’s hair, whatever style it’s in, and it’s brilliant when it comes to defining her curls too.”
Sadly, we don’t have access to it in Australia, however don’t let that deter you from recreating Carrie’s full-bodied waves at home, as we’ve listed a step-by-step method for achieving her look below. *Balayage not included*
- To begin, give your hair a thorough wash using a thickening shampoo and conditioner like the GROW Thicker Fuller Shampoo ($7.50, Woolworths)
- Blow dry and part into sections (top and bottom are usually fine, depending on how thick your hair is).
- Using a curling wand or straightener (however you feel most comfortable achieving a curl), take small sections of hair and curl away from your face to achieve Carrie’s blown-out shape
- Holding the end of your hair, gently pull the curl downward. The result will be a straighter, more natural wave versus a tighter coil
- Finish with a texturising spray like the De Lorenzo Elements Sandstorm Dry Texture Spray ($25.90, De Lorenzo), spritzing in between each section. Once your curls have completely cooled, comb through with a wide-tooth comb or your fingers
- Voila! Now all you need is a pair of blue Manolo Blahnik’s, a ticket to New York City and you’re good to go
Are you excited for season two of And Just Like That? Do you love Carrie Bradshaw’s hair as much as we do?
Love her hair and love the show.
My fave character is not in the series. Did not watch renewed version. Want to peek (do not have tv, so will have to find it somewhere) just for fashion! Loved sexncity fashion and style.
Is that Samantha? She was fabulous! Love Kim!
Loved the original SATC series. Didn’t really enjoy And Just Like That, not sure if I can sit through a second series of this.
Same here. I prefer to watch SATC and pretend that other series doesn’t exist!
Agree with you Lawliet!
Completely agree. I assumed the reboot was a one off and I was completely satisfied with that. In fact, I struggled a bit to get through it and was relieved when it was over. I really have no desire to see a second season.
I remember the original series but haven’t watched the reboot.
Not seen AJLT yet, will catch it on FTA if/when it ends up on there
I am not really keen on her hair like this -to me it looks uncared for but each to their own
Never watched SATC or the reboot
Love the Grow volumising powder and the Grow Thicker Fuller Volumising Treatment that I’ve tried. Carries hair is so beautiful – lovely long waves!
I haven’t watched the series yet, I’m still undecided about it but I definitely love her hair – always looks amazing!
I will probably watch it, can’t guarantee I will like it.
This show should be called. How women get themselves into debt. Carrie never made enough money but use to spend so much money on fashion and accessories and then the episode where she almost got locked out of her appartment and had to borrow money from her girlfriend. How irresponsible. All in the name of beauty. No thanks to all of these shows
So true Ray_jay! SJP’s character rubbed me the wrong way back then!
I think her hair is a bit too long it looks terrible to me. Cut it shorter but still long
As she has a longer face, long hair drags it down. I have a long face and wear my hair shoulder length.
I havent watched any of these episodes! I need to catch up!!
So very sad that you cannot buy Serge Normant Dream Big Instant Volumising Spray. Here in Australia but Thank You BH for alternatives are available.
I’ve never seen the show.
I love her hair!
I quite liked season 1, but i miss Samanatha and wasn’t fond of the new character Shay
Samantha made the show in my opinion!
Frankly, the second SATC movie was so bad it kind of turned me off everything that came before.
Don’t love the sequel series but it has some good parts.
I couldn’t pull off this look because my hair won’t hold a curl.
I haven’t seen season one yet, ill watch the trailer and see if like it.
She has gorgeous hair. I didn’t watch the new series, I used to love the old one.
I haven’t watch it before.
Sarah J has always had great hair. Love that she has kept it long rather than bow to ‘age appropriate’ pressure to cut and dye out the grey.
Ditto, Frenchy!
Her hair looks great, but I am not interested in seeing the reboot
I like the look, but don’t have the patience to achieve it.
I’d call them waves rather than curls but they do look good
Hadn’t heard of this show but might give it a watch
Those aren’t curls and I speak as a person with loose curls!
I struggled a little with the new series but would try the second season just becuase.
Serge is welcome to come over and style my hair every morning
I’ve always loved her hair and style so effortless
I haven’t watched this show.
