It’s not blonde, and it’s not brunette. It’s somewhere (really pretty) in between: bronde. And no, that’s not a typo.

Gone are the days of being a traditional blonde or brunette – why should we have to choose between the two, anyway? Going ‘bronde’ means having the best of both worlds: the sophistication of a brunette with the depth of an elegant blonde. What’s not to love?!

The best bit? It’s low maintenance, making it perfect for anyone who is a little colour shy or looking to change up their tresses without venturing too far into blonde territory. A low-maintenance, flattering, on-trend colour? We’re so in.

What is bronde hair?

Firstly, don’t be fooled into thinking this is just another form of ombré. Pantene Ambassador and hair expert, Barney Martin, says bronde is a combination of blonde and brown seamlessly combined into one look, and while there are many different way to achieve it, the key is to have lots of your natural base colour showing through. You’ll want to work with tones that suit your eye and skin tones as well as the natural depth of your brunette or dark blonde base. The colour placement in the hair can highlight specific facial features (i.e. the cheekbones), and incorporating subtle shimmers of a lighter shade also enhances the movement and texture of your locks.
