Wella System Professional Perfect Hold Hairspray
We say: “This is perfect if you’re after a hairspray that will control baby hair and wiry strands and provide a sleek look that actually goes the distance. It spread evenly over my hair without clumping in one spot – and didn’t feel ‘crispy’.” – bh’s Olivia.
Our road-testers say:
Pros
“A lovely purple 300ml aerosol spray can with a button that emits a fine spray of the product. The container is a good size.” – Meedee
“Overall, I was impressed with the quality, texture and hold of this hairspray and would have no hesitation in recommending it.” – Roxymisha
“I like that it has UV, styling heat and humidity protection.” – Princess Perfume
Cons
“[There was] something about the scent that I personally wasn’t keen on, although you can only really smell it briefly and once it’s settled you no longer have to worry about the scent.” – Meedee
“Initially my hair felt wiry to the touch but that disappeared after a few minutes.” – Roxymisha
Hold factor
“Wella describes the spray as providing extra strong hold for long-lasting stability. I certainly found this to be the case as my hair looked the same by the end of the day.” – Roxymisha
“The hold is really quite strong too – my hair retained its basic style throughout the day though I tended to reapply in the afternoon for an even sleeker look.” – Princess Perfume

L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Very Volume Supreme Hold
We say: “The 75mL size was the perfect option for my handbag for touch-ups during the night. Since this is so popular worldwide, I was excited to try it, and it didn’t disappoint with the more structured styles that needed stronger hold.” – bh’s Olivia
Our road-testers say:
Pros
“At the moment this is my favourite hairspray and one I would certainly purchase especially if I’m able to get these 75ml cans.” – Meedee
“This was also a great hairspray for taming fly-aways and flattening out my frizz. It contains pro-keratin so it must be good for repairing hair.” – Princess Perfume
“You get more of a mist than a spray with this, which is good as it’s less likely you’ll apply too much product.” – Coconal
“$10 for a big 400ml can makes it a very cheap option and it is easily available too.” – swoopingbuzzards
Cons
“I wasn’t overly keen on the scent of this product but I am extremely picky when it comes to scents of products.” – Meedee
“I didn’t like the scent as it is not very pleasant and was far too intense.” – Roxymisha
“It felt a little bit stiff and wiry after I first sprayed it on, but it soon dried up and felt a bit more flexible.” – Coconal
Hold factor
“In terms of its hold factor, it was really pretty good. It did clump a bit at the top of my hair but this could be mainly due to my relative inexperience.” – Princess Perfume
“I think I’d use this more when I have specially styled hair like an up do, and a event where I really needed it to stay in place, more than using this for every day wear.” – Coconal
“It did however provide very good hold and my hairstyle lasted all day.” – swoopingbuzzards

David Babaii Mis En Plis Light Styling Spray
We say: “If you’re after a spray that’s free of the nasties and won’t make your hair feel sticky or scrunchy to touch, then this is the spritz for you. Sleek styles will definitely be pleased when teamed with this David Babaii spray.” – bh’s Olivia
Our road-testers say:
Pros
“ It goes on quite lightly and in more of a mist than a spray, which I like as you don’t accidentally find yourself applying too much.” – Coconal
“The product is free from sulfates, parabens and petrochemicals which is a plus and contains many lovely natural ingredients such as extracts from ginger root, kiwi fruit and seed butter.” – Roxymisha
“It has quite a fine spray and I really love that you can’t really feel it in your hair. It’s easy to brush through too.” – Princess Perfume
“I love that this product is free from sulphates, parabens, petroleums, and animal products and not tested on animals.” – swoopingbuzzards
Cons
“It actually smells quite strongly when first sprayed on…. [The scent] does not suit my personal tastes at all.” – Coconal
“Once on the hair, I felt it dried very quickly and left my hair with a light coating.” – Meedee
Hold factor
“I found my hair sort of retained its style a bit without looking stiff or feeling wiry/crunchy.” – Coconal
“I found that it didn’t provide much hold at all, which I wasn’t expecting given the description on the bottle, yet it did ‘finish’ my hair style and kept it in place for most of the day.” – Roxymisha
“The product itself is really good, perfect for days you want just a bit of hold, it didn’t leave my hair sticky or too crunchy.” – swoopingbuzzards

We say: “If you’re creating a style that’s going to stop traffic, why not ensure your strands are sexy and shiny at the same time? The brilliant gloss finish won’t weigh your hair down, but your ‘do won’t go anywhere either.” – bh’s Olivia
Our road-testers say:
Pros
“On use of this product I firstly noticed the delightful scent, which to me is a sweet floral scent. It doesn’t have that “industrial hairspray” scent.” – Meedee
“It really did make my hair shiny (It would be perfect to do a slicked back pony style!) and did not smell bad like most hairsprays, which is a really big thing for me!” – swoopingbuzzards
“My hair did not feel sticky or unpleasant to touch , nor did it feel heavy or weighed down. Also there was no sticky residue, which I liked.” – Roxymisha
“I think I’ve found my new favourite hairspray!” – Coconal
“Then there’s the smell! Wow, a hairspray with a nice scent! This one smells a little fruity to me so it was a pleasure rather than a gaseous nightmare to use.” – Princess Perfume
Cons
“I didn’t find that the spray gave me much shine and that was disappointing.” – Roxymisha
“My style didn’t stay in place for more than a few hours so I would regard this more as a light finishing spray.” – Roxymisha
Hold factor
“As claimed, the product gives medium hold and I was able to tousle my curls with my fingertips.” – Roxymisha
“It also doesn’t make my hair feel stiff or hard, in fact it allows my hair to move freely for a very natural look, all while somehow keeping the style in place!” – Coconal
“The hold is moderate but quite good. It does a good job of managing fly-aways too and helping to keep your style in good shape throughout the day.” – Princess Perfume
