You know what we love about supermarket conditioners (and shampoos)? They’re right there. Need to pick up a box of cereal for breaky but noticed your conditioner was running low (why is it always the conditioner first!?), a quick stroll down the supermarket beauty aisle and you, your cereal and your soon-to-be fresh hair will be on your way.
So, you want to treat your tresses but are feeling the pinch of the cost of living. We’ve found the best supermarket conditioners that will still revive your strands, strengthen your locks and create the manageable mane you’re after.
Best Supermarket Conditioners
Glow Lab Repairing Conditioner
We Say: Glow Lab has created a conditioner that naturally nourishes (hello, shine), strengthens and even reduces frizz! Betaine and functional keratin will penetrate your hair follicle and improve the looks of your locks. Added nourishing bonus: it’s enriched with vitamin E, argan and coconut oils.
You Say: “I have curly, dry, damaged, fine hair. In other words, a nightmare to look after. I am always on the hunt for conditioning products that will work for me and after trying this hydrating conditioner from Glow Lab it has become a regular in my routine. Many supermarket conditioners use the word hydrating but not many actually follow through. After using this my hair is easy to detangle, and feels really moisturised. It dries soft and smells fantastic. Highly recommended for curly hair.” – MidnightBlue

OGX Extra Strength Hydrate & Repair + Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner
We Say: How often do you want to purchase a product on repeat… solely for its smell!? Once you’ve smelt this conditioner you’ll understand where we (and the bh members) are coming from. Blessedly sulphate-free, this conditioner will have your strands drenched with hydration, brittle hair will soon be a thing of your past, and you’ll even start seeing less hair breakage. We don’t want to call it a miracle, but boy is it close!
You Say: “The ends of my hair are chemically damaged from a bad bleaching experience and this is the only conditioner I have found so far that gives instant results. It’s quite thick and creamy so you don’t need loads of it… and it smells AMAZING. After the first use, I could tell, even while my hair was wet, that it felt better. After it dried, I could not be happier. My super dry ends were soft with a lot less visible damage. It doesn’t weigh my hair down either and leaves my ends moisturised for days!” – Aly Winter

Aveeno Daily Moisture Oat Milk Blend Conditioner
We Say: This hydrating, scalp-soothing conditioner is formulated with colloidal oatmeal for nourished silky soft strands. Free from nasties, it’s clinically proven to boost hydration levels and help those with dry and damaged strands.
You Say: “This conditioner is the ideal combination of a product that left my hair feeling soft, healthy yet lightweight which was amazing since while I do enjoy conditioning my hair, I hate the heavyweight feeling some products leave behind. I loved the mild, yet clean smell this left behind. I have bleached and damaged hair from years of heat styling and found that this product helped bring back some level of suppleness to my otherwise lackluster hair.” – makeupaddict21

Head & Shoulders Supreme Moisture & Smooth Conditioner
We say: Fighting the dandruff fight should not come at the cost of nourished, hydrated hair. This gentle conditioner works (in pairing with its counterpart shampoo) to protect your scalp from the pesky white flakes and their accompanying itch-factor. With an antioxidant rich formula, the nourishing blend of argan and coconut oils ensures each and every strand is left infused with a much-needed hit of hydration. You can expect soft nourished strands and a whole lot less flakes.
You say: “I have oily hair that can get a bit dry and frizzy on the ends, my hair is quite porous as well. I do have a bit of a dandruff problem at times, sometimes if I use dry shampoo too much I get a bit of build up on my scalp. I started using this conditioner and loved the way it made my hair feel. I didn’t get that dry frizzy feeling on the ends, my hair had a beautiful sheen to it. It has a gorgeous coconut kind of scent to it that makes me feel like I’m on some tropical holiday when I am using it. Love it!” – RINNY

What’s your go-to conditioner? Do you have any silky smooth hair tips?
I use the Glow Lab conditioner, but their are some here I would also like to try.
The Aveeno one looks great.
The Aveeno conditioner sounds nice.
I liek glow lab, tony and guy etc. There are good ones in the supermarkets
I have never tried a leave in Conditioner but do like the look and sound of Schwarzkopf Extra Care Colour Perfector Protecting Express Repair Conditioner
Would like to try the aveeno one.
Yes that is one I haven’t tried.
I don’t use it, makes my hair go too lanky
I’ve actually read lots of reviews about how bad the Monday haircare products are
I’m not a supermarket haircare kinda gal
I do like Glow Lab products but must admit I like trying different conditioners.
I don’t buy supermarket shampoo or conditioner.
I have a few favourite supermarket conditioners!!! Dove moisture is good, garnier fructis is quite good, Tresemme conditioners are generally excellent, but the fave has to be Toni & Guy Strengthplex..love that stuff, sooooo good ♡♡
I seem to buy the same old ones all the time. Perhaps its time for a change?
I love TRESemmé shampoo, but I don’t get good results from their conditioners.
I’ve had bad experiences with glow lab in the past
Good value for money.
I would try the Aveeno conditioner
Great recommendations. Haven’t tried any except the Monday which I didn’t like due to an overwhelming fragrance.
Surprised to see Monday in this list. Lots of nasties in their formulations and the one time I tried their products it made me lose so much hair and my hair was irritated all the time.
With cost of living soaring its good to know some of the products that wont dent the budget too much
ive heard dove is good
Have not tried any of these, I am using solid shampoo and conditioner bars these days, and my hair has never been better.
Some awesome brands
I’ve been using the Schwarzkopf Extra Care Colour Perfector Protecting Express Repair Conditioner for a couple of years. I spray it on damp hair and then blow dry and straighten my hair.
You mention straightening your hair. Does that mean that you have curls? If so lucky you. Mine is so straight and fine.
Oo i might need to get my hands on the glow lab conditioner asap
I use Schwarzkopf Extra Care in the black bottle before a date because it makes my hair FREAKISHLY soft!
Supermarket brands have improved so dramatically in the last few years.
I’ve used the OGX one before and was impressed with it. Might try some of the others when I get the chance.
I have tried Aveeno before. It was really nice.
Your comments make me want to try the Schwarzkopf now!
So much choice now
Hard to find any without fragrance, which I prefer, non-toxic ones.
My scalp seems to be quite sensitive, so I make very careful choices of hair care.
I have used some of the products from Coles and I have to say that they are ones that I will use again
I’d try Aveeno, my scalp could do with nourishment
I tried Aveeno conditioner before.
Blue Ginger sounds interesting!
Not for me, my hair has expensive tastes!
I don’t use conditioner due to the lank factor and can only use a limited range of shampoos none from the supermarket
I like the smell of this too, the menthol is lovely
The Argan Oil is my go to.
I’d like to try Glow Lab or Aveeno for my hair
Great options I’m sure, but none of those really work for me.
