When it comes to creating a big, bouncy mane that rivals the best hair in the biz (we’ll take either JLo or Amal Clooney), the key is to start with the basics. After all, becoming a whiz with the hairdryer and finally nailing the round brush twist ‘n’ flick won’t do much if your shampoo and conditioner is letting you down.
The tricky thing with volumising hair products, however, is finding ones that add extra body without extra weight. So although beginning your routine with a fullness-enhancing pair may seem like a no-brainer, it can be harder in practice.
Luckily, our 2021 Glosscar Awards has pointed us in the direction of a sensational set that’s formulated to create thick, voluminous hair. Introducing the OGX Extra Strength + Extra Volume Biotin & Collagen Shampoo, and the award-winning Conditioner.
It’s all about that thickening blend
If you’re wondering what sets these affordable finds apart from the rest (you can find them for around the $20 mark at the supermarket), it’s a combination of ingredients rather than one solo standout. We’re talking about a superstar blend of biotin, collagen and other lightweight, thickening heroes that help you to achieve big, beautiful hair straight from the shower.

The benefits of biotin and collagen
As the two stand-outs, biotin and collagen have a lot to answer for. Luckily, they’ve both got plenty to say. Biotin (also known as vitamin B7) is crucial for skin, nail, and hair health. It’s a protein that improves the body’s keratin infrastructure, which in turn helps to support hair strength. Its partner in crime collagen then hits hair with a one-two-punch of nourishment. The amino acids found in collagen help to build hair proteins and prevent hair follicle damage.
Plump it up
While collagen and biotin may be the Beyonce of the formula, there’s some Kelly and Michelle in there too to take this hair duo to body-licious new heights. Bamboo fibre extract and hydrolyzed wheat protein make an appearance to impressively aid plumping while keeping colour safe. These two are also all about nourishment and leaving that final result looking healthy and beautiful. Also, extra body doesn’t mean extra weight in this case. The sulfate-free surfactant blend makes double-sure that hair is left light, lifted and bouncy. And if you needed another reason to add these two to your shopping cart, the smell is absolutely divine.

Does your hair need extra volume? Have you tried OGX before?
I don’t think I’ve ever used a shampoo or conditioner that contains Collagen. I must try this!
Tried quite a few OGX but not this one. Another thing on my ‘to try’ list.
Interesting but I’ll stick to my shampoo that I know won’t irritate my scalp.
Will be buying some Biotin and Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner to try I hope it will help with my thinning hair since I have been so sick.
So many specialised treatment shampoos nowadays, hard to decide which is best.
I have to admit that I haven’t been so impressed with OGX, but maybe I should give it another try.
I have a sensitive scalp so I use natural products.
Volume is not something I have to worry about. I do enjoy trying out different brands to see how they affect my hair.
wouldn’t mind sampling this product, I do tend to sample due to the fact my hair has a tendency to not show results
Need this
I’ve used OGX before and they’re pretty good
I generally steer clear of supermarket brands but I’ve often wondered about this one. May have to check it out.
Wouldn’t mind to give it a try.
My hair has plenty of volume I need to de-volume mine lol
I’ve bought OGX but my hairdresser says it is toxic and is full of formaldehyde. I don’t know whether to believe her. I’d like to think we have better standards for what is and isnt’ allowed in our personal care products than other countries
I will certainly have to give this one a try at some stage. Im all stocked up with a years supply of haircare at the moment though 😀
I am always needing to thin my hair out
I have tried it before but didn’t think it was anything special.
I don’t mind OGX products. They are usually pretty good. I usually stock up when they are on sale.
I love OGX shampoos. I thought I had tried all the variants but it turns out I am wrong. This is going on my shopping list. I need more volume.
Since I’ve had the chop, my hair appears to have much more volume, thankfully
I love some of the OGX products I’ve tried!
Yes, have tired OGX, some goodies are hit some miss.
My hair hates this brand unfortunately!
I love extra volume, but my primary concern is oil control, & the OGX shampoos I’ve tried aren’t good at that.
I’ve used a couple of OGX shampoos and conditioners but I haven’t tried this range.
I love the packaging and colour!
Sounds interesting, might give it a go
I haven’t tried this one and I’m not sure I will get around to trying it. Dryness and frizziness are my main issues.
I haven’t tried this set – looks great! I’d love to see what it would do for my fine hair.
That’s my thoughts exactly! Very opulent and pretty, feminine looking.
I haven’t tried these particular products, but I love the OGX Argan Oil Hair Mask 🙂
I have not tried this shampoo before.
I’ve just started using the OGX conditioner
I haven’t had the chance in trying OGX products yet, I haven’t heard much about this brand. I definitely have it on the list of brands I’d like to give a go.
I’ve used other products in the OGX range and I liked them.
I haven’t tried OGX but my hair really needs volume so may have to give this a try.
Look like lovely products
Not for me…
I’ve tried a couple of these brand but not this particular one, might just check it out
Have tried OGX. I use the one with macadamia oil in it as it works well for my hair type
I’ve read so many good reviews of these two – might have to pop them in my shopping trolley next time I do my grocery shopping!
I have started using OGX and my hairdresser has even commented on what great
condition my hair is now
I am not suing this brand anymore.
Seen this brand but might give it a go
I’ve heard amazing things about this range.
currently on sale for 10
I would not try this because it contains protein; an ingredient that is not good for my type of hair.
