If you weren’t already aware, our skin care and haircare routine draw many parallels. Just like our skin, our hair can become oily, dry, dehydrated, dull or just generally unruly. So, just as our skin care routine calls for targeted care, whether it be an anti-ageing retinol or a hydrating hyaluronic acid, our hair is the same. Beyond a thorough shampoo and conditioner, if your hair feels and looks as though it needs a boost of volume, shine and nourishment, it’s time to consider a hair serum.
Best hair serum for damaged hair
Kérastase Paris Genesis Anti-Breakage Fortifying Hair Serum
We say: This Best In Beauty winner isn’t one to save up for special occasions. No? No! Created for daily use, this anti-breakage serum works to reduce hair fall and strengthen hair follicle resistance at the scalp.
You say: “It actually works. I get hardly any hair fall when washing and brushing my hair. I also feel like it made my hair stronger and I had much less breakage. Although it doesn’t claim to grow hair I noticed some baby hairs growing longer – I’ve put this down to the fact that it stops hair fall – so they have a chance to grow.” – Ray_jay

Best hair serum for dry hair
Essano Argan Oil Hair Recovery Serum
We say: Treat dry and damaged hair by infusing individual strands with essano’s argan oil and vitamin-rich serum. The recovery serum works by wrapping hair in a protective film which creates greater body control and leaves it looking smoother and softer.
You say: “I love love LOVE this hair serum. It smells amazing and transforms my straw-like ends to glossy locks. I use three pumps of the mixture, rubbing into the palms of my hands and smoothing through my towel-dried hair before allowing it to dry naturally.” – Margaret759

Best hair serums for thinning hair
Dermal Therapy Hair Restoring Serum
We say: Formulated using plant-based stem cell technology, Dermal Therapy’s Hair Restoring Serum has been designed as a leave-on treatment which works to stimulate hair growth and strengthen thinning strands for all scalp types, sensitive included.
You say: “After three weeks of daily massaging into my partner’s scalp I can see some hair fluff starting which is really exciting. I will add to my review in a couple of months but this is a positive sign. Possibly I will need to continue this for ever but it is easy to apply and only takes a couple of minutes a day so why not.” – JuJu47

Have you tried using a hair serum? If not, which of these would you like to try?
Haven’t used a hair serum in a while. I’ve been into hair oils.
I am still using Dermal Therapy Hair Restoring Serum on my partners hair and definitely working well -Once i have been using for 20 weeks I will add to my review
Thank you for the article. Some interesting products to try.
My gosh the Kérastase ones nice and expensive.
very expensive product. Probably good though.
haven’t tried any of these before. I’ve heard good things about Kérastase
Yeah, have a couple. Olaplex serum, kerastase, pacifica, briogeo, goop…do not judge lol
I prefer hail oil, it is so nourishing.
I haven’t used any of these! I do use hair oils but keen to use more hair serums
I need that Kérastase serum in my life.
I have used lots and lots of creams & oils…unsure if I have ever used a hair serum.
I love Glow Lab! I wonder if they have serums for dry hair? X
I don’t know if it is a serum, but I got a sample of the Elixir Ultime Original Hair Oil and it is excellent.
I’ve been using L’Oreal’s Elvive for dryness and find it’s okay, not great though. I’d be interested to see if a serum is better.
I currently use 2 hair oils but have not tried a hair serum. From the list above, there appears to be some good hair serums to try out for the first time.
Thankfully don’t have damaged hair but I do still use serums.
I need to get a serum for my daughter. Her hair is wild!
I always use a serum with varying degrees of success, I hate a greasy look.
The Dermal therapy one looks great and is going on my must try list.
I use oils sparingly on my fine hair
Haven’t tried a hair serum before but I have used argan oil and even olive oil in my hair from time to time – both work a treat for producing shine, nourishment and less frizz.
Some really great Hair Serums available they look great will have to try them at all the moment I use the Moroccan Oil and Growth Bomb Hair Serum.
I have never used a hair serum before, must fix that soon
I’ve been slack with hair masks & oils lately. I don’t recall trying a hair serum before. Kerastase interested me until I got to the price!
I’d love to try the hair restoring serum
I will definitely be trying the Glow serum for frizzy hair.
I have never used a hair serum but I would definitely like to try the Dermal Therapy Hair Restoring Serum as my hair strands are fine and seem to be getting thinner as I age. Also I have heard some very good reports about Dermal Therapy products.
I’d be interested to try the Dermal one. I’m currently using the Bondi Boost one, only a few weeks in so haven’t seen a change yet.
Sounds like a better, safer option than hair botox
I haven’t tried any.
Hair serums have so many benefits and great ones here that I would love to try, thanks for the wonderful read.
I haven’t tried any of these but they sound interesting.
Would love my hubby to try the Dermal Therapy one
I haven’t tried any of these products. I use a leave-in conditioner instead.
I haven’t tried all of them, but im really keen on trying the wella professionals serum
