We’ve all experienced hair fall out in some capacity. Whether we have light shedding or significant thinning, we all want to keep our hair healthy and luscious. In the same way there are many reasons for hair loss (diet, genetics, hormones, stress), there are just as many promising remedies to promote growth. Though severe balding is likely a case for your doctor (who might point you in the direction of a laser treatment or hair transplant), moderate hair loss can often be rectified with a deep cleaning scalp scrub, the right balance of nutrients from a daily supplement or even with the help of a volume-boosting hair treatment.
What causes hair loss?
This depends on the individual case. Medical conditions, genetics, hormones (typically seen in women post-menopause due to a dip in female hormones), diet, a stressful life event or even a regular part of ageing, can contribute to hair loss.
Can you regrow hair?
The ability to regrow hair is dependent on the health of the hair follicle. The follicle refers to the opening on the skin in which a strand of hair will grow from. If the follicle is still present, new hair growth is possible. However, once this follicle has closed up, been damaged, scarred or completely disappeared, new hair won’t be able to grow. On top of this, if you haven’t grown new hair from a follicle in years, it’s often assumed that you won’t be able to grow new hair.

FAQs
How to regrow hair naturally
Massage: By massaging the scalp you can promote blood circulation which can work to stimulate growth and thickness. Additionally, a relaxing head massage can work towards reducing one of the main factors in hair loss: stress.
Aloe vera: By applying aloe vera to your scalp, you’ll help to reduce the severity of dandruff which can clog your hair follicles and stop new growth.
Coconut oil: When used as a leave-in treatment or in conjunction with your scalp massage, coconut oil will coat the scalp in lauric acid which works to protect the scalps microbiome and reduce the loss of protein within the hair.
Which lack of vitamin causes hair fall?
According to Healthline, “one role vitamin D plays is stimulating new and old hair follicles. When there isn’t enough vitamin D in your system, new hair growth can be stunted.” Plus, deficiencies in riboflavin, biotin, folate and vitamin B12 have also been associated to hair loss.
What foods help hair grow thicker?
Eating a balanced diet that is high in iron, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and proteins will work towards healthier and stronger hair. In particular eggs, berries, spinach, fatty fish (like salmon or mackerel), avocados, nuts and meat.

These sound interesting and I’m sure they need them, I don’t like the idea of the shark cartilage one as we are killing too many sharks anyway. It also seems strange to coat your scalp in coconut oil, I’m sure mine would react against it.
