Beauty Insider: October 2023

Welcome to Beauty Insider, where each month we bring you all of the latest beauty news, the best new product launches and the beauty brands we think should be on your radar. It’s a must-read for any beauty lover who wants to be in the know.

Big news in beauty

  • The Paris Fashion Week shows recently took place, and the Aussie dream collab came to fruition through the partnership of L’Oréal Professional and Christopher Esber. For Esber’s debut show, L’Oréal formed a dream team of 10 Aussie (and NZ) hair stylists with leading Australian hair stylist Scott Sloan (of Sloans Hair) heading up the team as hair director. The organic textured looks complimented Esbers range to perfection.
  • As we move to choosing cleaner skin care ingredients, it’s important to know what we’re actually looking to avoid. Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are also known as very daunting ‘forever chemicals’, which just means they’re synthetic compounds that can be (in the long term) detrimental to our health. So to make sustainable, conscious choices, our top PFAS-free pick is:; Hemptuary, a brand guaranteeing environmentally-friendly ingredients and most importantly clean ingredients for your skin.
  • As October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month, the incredible teams at Kerasilk and Rachel Gilbert have teamed up to raise money and awareness for Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation (SBCF). Rachel Gilbert has created two t-shirts with 100 per cent of profits being donated and an additional $2 from every online order for the month of October. Kerasilk supported the initiative by using the Kerasilk styling range to create confidence inducing looks for the faces of the campaign.

The best beauty launches this month

OPI xPRESS/ON

Not sure where your nearest Sephora is? Well get to googling, because you’re going to need to check out the Sephora exclusive OPI press-on nails. If you’re like us, you definitely don’t have the time to head to the salon, let alone cop how much it costs! Luckily you’re still going to get the same top-notch shades, and a range of lengths and shapes with the new xPRESS/ON range. The packs come with 30 nails so you’ll be able to match your nail size perfectly and of course, the much-needed bottle of glue. Super speedy salon-quality nails, all from the comfort of your home.

La Mav Tanning Range

By all means, we want to be tanned, especially with the weather heating up. Except under no circumstances are we going to risk prolonged sun exposure. Lucky for us there are incredible fake tanning options available to give us the faux glow we’re after. La Mav’s latest naturally-derived, organic tanning range includes three new magnesium infused products (and their accompanying applicators). The addition of fast-absorbing magnesium gives you an internal wellness boost as well as a skin-plumping, glowy finish.

There’s nothing we love more than a multi-beneficial product. This enzyme peel works to accelerate the exfoliation process by utilising a blend of hard-working acids and papaya enzymes. What are you left with? A more radiant, even skin tone; oh and did we mention, minimised pores?
