The slick hair trend that took over the ARIAs

We’ve been spoiled at bh this week with beauty looks from the AMAs, and now the ARIAs have blown us away yet again.

Proving there’s no shortage of Aussie beauty talent, the red carpet goers blew us away with a stack of stunning hair and make-up looks. But the standout beauty trend? Sleek updos. Yep, forget flowing locks – it was all about the cool-girl, slick hair look –more often than not paired with bold eyeliner.

Hair colour chameleon Katy Perry kicked things off, covering her updo with a chic, shimmery turban. Her bold black eyeliner and red lippie added a bit of glamour.

Megan Washington kept her hair simple with a sleek side part, showing off her glowing skin. The singer highlighted her eyes with a killer combo of bold liner and pretty bronze eyeshadow.

Model Montarna Cox opted for a wet hair look similar to Megan’s, which drew attention to her dewy complexion and uber-cool earrings.

Not to be outdone, last year’s X-Factor winner Dami Im left her jet black locks down. As for make-up, she went with (you guessed it) bold black eyeliner and a classic red lip.

While it wasn’t technically a ‘sleek’ hair look, I personally can’t get enough of Kate Peck’s icy blonde quiff. Her smouldering smoky grey eye make-up perfectly accompanied the dramatic ‘do.

To get a similar ‘do to these red carpet stunners, you’ll need a shine-enhancing hair product such as LYNX Clean Cut Look Wet Shine Spray Gel or ghd Final Shine Spray.

But at the end of the day, I have to say my favourite hair look was from the one and only Jessica Mauboy. Standing apart from the rest, the singer rocked bold brows, bronzed skin, and a wavy, mid-length bob with delicious honey highlights. She’s also shown us exactly how to use white eyeliner to make your eyes look bigger and brighter!

One thing’s for sure, the singer’s come a long way beauty-wise since her smokin’ appearance at the awards in 2009!
