A Look Back At Anne Hathaway’s Best Beauty Moments To Date

After a COVID-induced red carpet hiatus, 2022 has made up for lost time. From Zoë Foster Blake’s dominatrix Logies look to Kate Hudson’s ’50s-inspired glam, we’re wrapping up the year with endless inspiration. And while everyone put their best foot forward, no celebs delivered quite like Anne Hathaway.

Curtsy-ing her way into our lives in 2001 during the release of The Princess Diaries, we’ve since seen Anne’s beauty evolution transform from sweet girl to style icon.

As most A-listers play around with a new hair colour every month, apart from her brief stint as a blonde and perhaps a few scattered highlights, Anne has mainly stayed true to her long brunette locks. Yet, managed to keep things interesting as she’s toyed around with a curtain fringe that could even rival Dakota Johnson’s.

So, from her pixie cut at movie premieres to shaggy blowouts sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week, here’s a glimpse into some of Anne’s best beauty moments to date.

Did you remember Anne’s blonde phase? You’ll have to cast your mind back to May 2006…

Then: heavier makeup and shorter hair. Now: lighter makeup and longer hair.

New fringe, who dis? Any longer and we won’t be able to see Anne’s dazzling chestnut eyes and that midnight blue eyeliner.

She might be wearing 50 shades of brown but there’s nothing dull about Anne’s shaggy curtain bangs and high ponytail. Said to be an ode to her character in The Devil Wears Prada, we’re getting all the fashion IT girl vibes from Anne’s glowing cheeks and medium mauve lipstick.

Anne is the only person who can make a bright pink sequin dress, matching pink leather bag, and platform heels feel casual.

Whether it’s her relaxed blowout or her soft lip – thanks to Valentino’s Rosso Lipstick in the shade 100R ($91 at ModeSens) – Anne has chic-casual down to a fine art.

Anne kept her ballet topknot casual by framing her face with two piece-y strands. Though the Princess Diaries actress typically opts for a bright pink blush, this time her cheeks are a muted coral, in keeping with her eyeshadow.

Anne is giving fembot-meets-Don’t Worry Darling in her voluminous half-up half-down ‘do. Keeping her skin au naturale with a pop of colour on her cheeks and some flattering falsies, we think this might be our favourite look to date.
Though she was speaking specifically to her Cannes red carpet outfit when she told People, “you never go wrong with something that looks chic and glamorous, but feels very, very comfortable.” We actually think Anne applies this attitude to every look.

As far as brows go, Anne’s lean toward the thinner side of the spectrum. Her perfectly shaped arches defy everything we know about full, fluffy brows reigning supreme. She’s almost, dare we say it, got us considering thinning ours out…

For many, Anne’s multicoloured, polka dot dress is stealing the show. For us however, we can’t look past her chic-as-anything grown out, middle part bangs and ponytail combination.

Which of Anne’s looks are your favourite?

  1. Don’t mind Anne with short blonde hair but I really love her with long dark hair – it’s so natural and makes her look authentic. A beautiful woman who can showcase so many styles and looks.
