Have you ever wondered where the ingredients in your skin care and beauty products come from? No? Me neither.
It seems odd, seeing as many of us seem to be making a conscious effort to stay away from genetically-modified foods and choose organic alternatives instead. We want purity in our food because we care what goes into our bodies, but what about what goes on to our bodies? What about how it affects the world?
pureDKNY a drop of rose is the newest juice to come from the designer brand and follows the success of its predecessors; a drop of vanilla and a drop of verbena. A drop of rose is unique due to its main ingredient – a classic rose from Turkey’s Isparta Valley.
The delicate pink blossoms are harvested during harvest season in June and each flower is hand-picked one by one. By the end of the season, 2,500 tonnes of petals have been collected and are then transported to the distillery where they are gently rolled and processed through 26 stills.
What we’re left with is essential rose oil, a raw material that is later incorporated into the fragrance to create a very true representation of a garden rose in its simplest incarnation. The fragrance of a pure bloom, free of any artificial scents that may clutter it.
Since 2010, pureDKNY has enjoyed a partnership with CARE – a humanitarian organisation that helps to lift women out of global poverty. In honour of the launch of pureDKNY rose, DKNY will make a donation to support CARE, in an effort to help even more women living in poverty. By purchasing its rose from local farmers in Turkey, pureDKNY has taken a step to help secure long-term financial stability in Isparta – and produce beautiful, pure fragrances for the world to enjoy.
