Let’s face it, breaking and entering aside, our obsession with our beloved celebrities knows no limits. From their go-to coffee order to their star sign, and the skin care they use, we want (nay, we need) to be across it all.
So when it comes to something as personal as a signature scent, our curiosity becomes all-consuming.
For a hint at exactly what you’d inhale if you gave one of these mega stars a hug, here are the actual perfumes they’ve confessed to spritzing on themselves.

Christina Ricci: Byredo Gypsy Water
“[Byredo Gypsy Water] ($309.99 from Chemist Warehouse) is just one of my favourites, if not my favourite perfume, and I use it all the time. I’ve been wearing it for seven or eight years,” Christina told Strategist. “I don’t know how to really describe it. I would hesitate to call it a heavy scent, and I would hesitate to call it a light scent. I’m sure it has floral notes in it, and I think it has musky notes in it, but I’m not really sure, which is why I love it so much.”

Scarlett Johansson: Narciso Rodriguez For Her and Hermes Terre d’Hermès
When you’re an A-lister, why wouldn’t you have a fragrance wardrobe? Johansson certainly agrees. “I love the Narcisco Rodriguez [For Her] ($89.99 from Chemist Warehouse) one; it smells so good,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “There’s also a Hermès one called Terre d’Hermès ($89.99 from Chemist Warehouse) that I love. I kind of mix it up.”

Kate Moss: Clarins Eau Dynamisante
“My mum used to wear it, it’s just a go-to smell,” Kate told Vogue as she pulled the Clarins Eau Dynamisante ($82 from MYER) out of her handbag. This iconic red bottle is a favourite amongst arguably the two chicest groups of people: French women and supermodels. Formulated without the regular alcohols you’d find in a fragrance, this skin care and perfume hybrid has been enriched with essential oils that allow it to double as a skin toner and hydrating mist.

Naomi Campbell: Dior Diorissimo
You’d be forgiven for assuming Naomi Campbell’s signature scent comes from her own perfume line, Naomi by Naomi Campbell. However, during an interview at the Fragrance Foundation Awards, the supermodel said “I wear a blend of many of my old favourites. But one of my all time favourite fragrances is Diorissimo [by Dior] ($170 from MYER).” In particular its staying power: “I love florals, florals that linger and that’s what lily of the valley does, it lingers all night,” she said.

Susan Sarandon: Santa Maria Novella Eva
“I don’t have a signature scent as such, but I prefer masculine scents like sandalwood,” Susan shared to Harpers Bazaar UK. Despite not necessarily being loyal to one fragrance, Susan does admit that, “Eva from the Italian perfumer Santa Maria Novella ($225 from Santa Maria Novella) is a favourite.”

Helen Mirren: Hermès Un Jardin En Mediterranee
Ever wondered what a dame smells like? Besides class, talent and beauty, of course. Well, in the case of the incomparable Dame Helen Mirren, it’s sparkling citrus with a heady green twist. She shared the identity of her favourite fragrance with Glamour, naming this beautifully bright hybrid of bergamot, lemon, mandarin orange and fig leaf as her zesty signature scent — Hermès Un Jardin En Mediterranee ($237 from David Jones).

Victoria Beckham: Victoria Beckham Beauty Fragrances
Victoria Beckham loves fragrance so much she created a trio of nostalgic scents to commemorate the most important moments in her relationship with husband, David Beckham. The pair both wear the Victoria Beckham Beauty fragrances, either solo or layered for a customised take on personal scent. “For me, my perfect date night scent is Suite 302 ($330 from Victoria Beckham Beauty). It’s quite a sensual fragrance,” Victoria told Harpers Bazaar. “[San Ysidro Drive] ($330 from Victoria Beckham Beauty) nice for during the day, since we’re not quite in winter yet, but, you know, you could also mix them as well. [And] when we’re in Miami, both myself and David wear Portofino ’97 ($330 from Victoria Beckham Beauty), because it’s quite a summery, fresh feel.”

Meghan Markle: Jo Malone Wild Bluebell
Sadly for us, Meghan Markle’s lifestyle blog TIG is no longer active. But that doesn’t mean we can’t hang on to all the past beauty recommendations that were once written on the site. One of those includes Meghan’s daily signature scent — the floral favourite from Jo Malone — Wild Bluebell ($180 from MYER). The fragrance notes include clove, bluebell, lily of the valley, jasmine and musk.

Drew Barrymore: Patchouli Perfume Oil
According to Drew’s Little Yellow Book, the actress and host of The Drew Barrymore Show is a big lover of using fragrance to reset the senses. “We are sitting with ourselves so much more than ever, so it’s vital to give ourselves love. One easy way to do that is by making sure we are smelling fresh — a simple, special treat for our senses,” she shared. “Scents are extremely powerful at determining our moods.” She likes to apply a drop of Patchouli oil to her wrists and neck for a bit of aromatherapy throughout the day. Her favourite — Triloka Patchouli Perfume Oil — is not available down under, but an inexpensive roll-on alternative such as Gya Labs Patchouli Perfume Oil ($12.99 from Amazon Australia) should do the trick.

Ashley Graham: Chloé Eau de Parfum
A classic crowd favourite, Chloe’s self-titled signature perfume ($79.99 from Chemist Warehouse) is a top pick for anyone who favours a light, romantic and feminine scent. Among fans of the popular fragrance is Ashley Graham, who revealed to E! Online that this is the perfume she “can’t live without”.

Reese Witherspoon: Aerin Amber Musk
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Reece crowned Aerin’s Amber Musk ($225 from MYER) as her number one fragrance, revealing she doesn’t go anywhere without a spritz. The spicy and floral perfume is described by Aerin as a warm, inviting scent you want to wrap yourself in, like a soft cosy blanket on a cold snowy night.

What’s your signature scent? Have you ever tried any of the ones mentioned?
I just love perfumes. I dont know that I have a signature scent but at the moment im getting a lot of compliments on a Prada scent that smells of Iris.
I am obsessed with an Australian perfume – Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime Perfume Concentrate . I purchased the small spray as I love fresh citrus unisex scents and its amazing. The perfume stays all day and I receive so many comments on how fresh and delicious it is.
Aerin perfume is so luxe. The Kiehls Musk is a classic and Jo Malone sure knows her blends!
I haven’t tried any of these perfumes.
I wonder if that Kiehls fragrance is still around
These women are so beautiful. Perfume would just add to the beauty.
Yes have tried a few from here. Not for my style. Hermes one is definitely reminding me of 90s =D
My night time “signatures” is Scandal by Night (killer haha) and TF Lost Cherry (both have cherry as a note and are seductive).
Day time I change a lot, have no signature
Such Wonderful Fragrances really love the perfumes that are Floral, with Gardenia, Jasmine and White Gardenia, Lilly some are very expensive not something I can afford to buy.
Love perfume so much! So hard to choose and I always attract high price ones
I am a perfume fiend! If I had to pick a favourite, it would be a tie between Chanel No 5 and Sicily by Dolce & Gabbana. But I love mixing it up.
they all so expensive :O
I’m trying to finish the perfumes I already have but I do like some of the Jo Malone ones.
Patchouli is the only one of these I’ve tried – I love it & I can believe it would be Drew Barrymore’s type of thing.
I’ve never heard of Vilhelm Parfumerie or Room Service, but if it’s got sandalwood & violet – Wow! Sounds good!
I wouldn’t say I’ve got a signature scent: I’ve got quite a few faves on rotation.
Where did you get it from? I haven’t heard of this one before.
I had no idea Megan had a blog!! That would have been a great read.
The Aerin Waterlily Sun is my special occasion scent. It is divine. My other favourite is Coco Mademoiselle.
I love the Jo Malone fragrances, they smell amazing!
The Room Service perfume bottle looks really nice
I’m not a perfume person, my mum is the total opposite though and will buy all these given the chance.
Off the whole is my number one fav.
the foubourg by hermes is such a strong perfume- no wonder a strong personality!!!
Never tried any of these. Mostly on the upper end price wise that’s for sure
I haven’t tried any of these. Going in my wishlist .
Adore Beauty or from the website.
You are right! They do look very expensive.
Thank you!
These are sooo expensive, not surprised that they’re owned and tried by these top celebs haha!
I haven’t worn perfume in years. It’s just not a must have for me.
Flowerbomb is my absolute favourite, I get so many compliments when I wear it.
I haven’t tried any of these. My favourite is be delicious by dkny and marc jacobs daisy
Illuminum that Kate Middleton selected for her wedding sounds gorgeous. A bit out of my price range though. Lily, jasmine and gardenia are some of my favourite floral scents
I haven’t tried any of those, but my signature is Dolce and Gabbana’s L’imperatrice 3. I used to have quite a few perfumes on rotation, but I now only have this one.
Chole is a nice perfume and I hope to one day buy it.
That Jo Malone one sounds lovely!
My signature scent is Poison by Cristian Dior, I’ve loved it since I was a kid.
Haven’t tried any of these and I like sweet smelling perfumes.
I haven’t tried any of those but would certainly love to try them, I buy less expensive ones as perfume does seem to have a use by.
I haven’t tried any of those perfumes but then again I’m not a huge fan of perfumes. I can take them or leave them.
Ooh, I would love to sniff these perfumes! I don’t have a signature scent, I like to try different perfumes
I’ve only tried a couple of these. I’d love to try a little sample of White Gardenia Petals. Gardenias are my favourite floral scent.
I remember years ago reading that Diana’s favourite scent was Diorissimo, she wore it on her wedding day apparently. That story seems to have changed a few times over the years!
Some nice ones here, but expensive too
I wouold like to smell these scents
I love loccitane for scents. Quite reasonably priced and beautiful light but lasting scents
I have sniffed ‘Room Service’ and I thought it was absolutely gorgeous, but far out it’s very expensive!
I wear Chloe
I haven’t tried any of these but am keen to find my own signature scent!
I never wear perfume, but I’d love to see what these all smell like. They are a bit out of my price range though
Perfumes on myself and others who are close by, gives me a headache
I knew a lot of them were going to be out of my budget. I used to wear Chloe mainly because I got it as a gift. I don’t have a a signature scent but I do have my favourites. Pleasures, Ralph Lauren, Happy to name a few. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to purchase my favourites for years as I keep getting perfume as gifts.
I haven’t try any of them. But love to switching between the brands.
Actually that Room Service is sounding pretty good! I’m goingto have to test it out next time I’m around a perfume department.
