The enticing scent of a fragrant candle creates an immediate sense of warmth in an otherwise sterile room, evoking feelings of comfort and intimacy. Scented candles are the perfect way to make your home a welcoming place for visitors and the fragrance lasts for ages.
Unfortunately though, not all candles are equal. Most candles contain nasties like paraffin, a toxic substance derived from crude oil that can release harmful (but invisible) toxins into the air. Unlike regular paraffin candles, soy wax candles don’t release toxins into the air when they burn. Soy wax candles are one hundred percent eco-friendly and biodegradable – and what’s more, they burn at a cooler temperature to regular candles, which means they last twice as long – so while they’ll set you back a little extra cash initially, they’ll be well worth it in the long run. Beeswax candles
Pure beeswax candles are also paraffin free, so they’re non-carcinogenic. Look for beeswax candles containing cotton wicks, as these are the safest and most eco-friendly. Pure beeswax candles contain the subtle, natural fragrance of the pollens and nectars that have been collected by bees, so they make a really unique home fragrance.
Incense
When purchasing incense as a home fragrance, look for natural, organic types. There is a range of incense products you can purchase from natural therapy stores and online that bear an eco-friendly stamp, which means they’re non-toxic and contain natural ingredients.
