Not all scents are created equal. Here’s the lowdown on the different types of fragrance created for women:

Perfume – Also called extractor extrait, this is the strongest and longest-wearing form of fragrance. It contains the highest proportion scented concentrate (usually essential oil or a synthetic compound) at 15-40 per cent. Worn sparingly on pulse points.
Eau de parfum (EDP) – With approximately 10- 30 per cent scent concentrate, this is often, mistakenly, called perfume.
Eau de toilette (EDT)– Less intense than an EDP, with only one to six per cent of scent concentrate, this won’t linger as long as a stronger fragrance but can be worn more liberally.
Cologne – Not just for guys, this contains two to three per cent scent concentrate and can be splashed all over the body.

  1. I only buy EDPs. EDTs are waste of money as they don’t last and don’t project….and colognes , omg. Have tried incredibly great smelling ones from Acqua di parma, but they have zero lasting power! I spray, walk around DJ…in 30 min…gone!
