Plus our fragrance quiz will reveal what your spritzing style says about you! Phew, that’s a whole lotta fragrance!

And to top it all off, we’ll be posting a blog a day about all things scent-related – like what classifies a ‘floral’ / ‘oriental’ / ‘woody’ / ‘fresh’ perfume, and how to know which family of fragrance you like, All the practical perfume stuff really.

Today’s fragrance family: floral.

Floral perfumes are, you guessed it, fragrances that feature notes from flowers (think roses, jasmines, lilies, violets, and the like). Floral fragrances can range from a single floral perfume, which is dominated by a scent from one particular flower, to a floral bouquet, which features a combination of notes from different flowers.

So how exactly do perfumers achieve such florally goodness? Either essential oils are extracted straight from the flowers, or new technologies allow perfumers to clone the scent of blooms from which no oil can be extracted by traditional methods, giving perfumes their floral scent. Ah, the brilliance of science!

If you like a bit of rose in your perfume, try Aveda Ancient Attar Pure-Fume Spirit Aroma Spray, Vera Wang Parfum, or Montville Organic Skincare All Natural Perfume – Vanilla and Rose.

If you’re more of a jasmine kinda gal, try Marc Jacobs Daisy, or Bobbi Brown Beach Fragrance.

And if freesia tickles your fancy, try Estée Lauder Beautiful Love, or Chloé Eau de Parfum
