‘Tis the season, the lights are shimmering, you’ve curled up with a fluffy blanket and festive mug of hot chocolate (while the air-con blasts out chilly air) and of course Mariah Carey is on repeat. But what sense is yet to behold the festive season? Your sense of smell. Of course, the wafting whiffs of gingerbread floating from the oven are a true delight. But what if you could sniff the smells of holiday cheer, sans the effort of baking? You can! And you’re in for a true treat with these festive fun holiday candles. If peppermint and gingerbread aren’t on your Christmas wishlist, don’t worry; there are plenty of other festive flavours to set your olfactory sense ablaze with Christmas cheer.
So, with much merriment, here are the festive fragrances that are definitely going to give your home a hit of holiday cheer…

Maison Blanche 011 Australian Christmas
We say: Is there anything more Aussie than a Christmas punch? We think not. So gather around the punch bowl (or this equally as fruitful candle) this Christmas for the freshest summertime fragrance. The signature minimalist white and black packaging will elegantly fade into any Christmas décor of choice. This beautiful fragrance also comes packed in Maison Blanche’s signature cotton bag (hello reusable extra gift).

CIRCA Gingerbread Cookies Soy Candle
We say: Like we said before, the smell of gingerbread wafting through your home is an unparalleled Christmas smell. But the effort of kneading the dough, cutting out the cute shapes and waiting for it to bake is well, an effort. So save your precious seconds in the speedy countdown to Christmas and light this spicy, sweet warming gingerbread candle instead.

Peppermint Grove Australia Peppermint Candy Cane Soy Candle
We say: If anything feels like a nostalgic scent it’s peppermint. Nothing feels quite as nostalgic as the last few weeks of the school year winding down to Christmas cheer. The amount of tiny candy canes that were licked into pointy, weapon-like spears will never leave our minds. So light this sweet minty candle for a walk down memory lane.
$44.95 at Peppermint Grove Fragrances
TRUDON Gloria Holiday Classic Candle
We say: A gloriously spicy candle is always reminiscent of Christmas joy. Filled with fragrant notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, orange and amber, we advise lighting this one over Christmas lunch as the appetiser to the Christmas pudding. Bonus: once the candle has burnt down, the stunning gold-filled red votive will make for a beautiful Christmas jar for years to come.
$165 at Libertine Parfumerie
Jo Malone Glowing Embers Townhouse Candle
We say: This abundantly stunning candle comes poured into a textured bisque ceramic vessel. The flickering wick will have you feeling like you’re gathering with your nearest and dearest around a crackling log fire. With a long-lasting burn time of 70 hours your home will be filled with festive fiery fragrance even far beyond the festive season.

Christmas scents
Dusk Green Christmas Room Spray
We say: The secret is out. Our centrepiece to Christmas Day (the tree) is in fact… plastic. But do you want to know how we managed to keep the façade up for so long (before spilling our own secrets)? We use the Dusk Christmas Room Spray, it’s perfectly scented with pine and evergreen needles that you would never know the fresh aroma wasn’t coming from a real tree!
$19.99 at Dusk
Lumira Nuit De Noel Room Spray
We say: The night before Christmas is all about the build up of anticipation for the joy of the day to come. This undeniably festive fragrance is easily spritzed about the home (and sheets) for a joyful mix of pine, sweetness and of course Christmas spices.

Christmas diffusers
Glasshouse Fragrances Night Before Christmas Fragrance Diffuser
We say: We’re filing this one under the ‘don’t know if we bought it for the fragrance or the packaging’ category. Because both are equally as beautiful as the other. But let’s be real, the Christmas tower box is something we’d display regardless of the scent. Luckily said scent has us doing the dance of the sugar plum fairy with its sweet but graceful plum pudding fragrance, that’ll drift across your home consistently providing your nose with a festive treat.

Buckley & Phillips Aromatics Frankincense & Myrrh Christmas Essential Oil Blend
We say: Sure you might need to already have a diffuser to benefit the most from this yuletide inviting fragrance, but the result will be worthwhile. We suggest heading to the shops to pick up a diffuser (and this oil blend) to make the most merry home possible. This is one of those scents that quite literally epitomises Christmas, featuring frankincense and myrrh in a golden bottle, i.e the OG Christmas gifts.

Do you have a favourite Christmas fragrance? How do you create a festive atmosphere?
Pine trees. As w had them decorated in snowy winter overseas over those pagan holidays. Now as an adult do not celebrate any random invented days…but love nice scents: perfumes for me, incense for the house
I love diffusers especially in the bathroom.
The gingerbread cookie candle is calling my name!
Also the peppermint candy cane candle sounds nice. The red and gold colour makes it even more festive
I like the fresh scents like pine tree, I am not a big fan of the candles smelling like food.
Is this what Dolly Parten still looks like?. If so amazing?
The Dusk Green Christmas Room Spray look so pretty and I am thinking it will smell good too.
Yes that appeals to me too
The Trudon candle is the nicest looking one, but a bit expensive on my budget.
Love the red packaging! Very Christmassy.
I love diffusers and the ginger scent has my name on it.
My sister & I walked into Clark Rubber together once: she said, “Smells like Christmas!” It did, too – the smell of pool toys, haha!
great reviews!!
I don’t celebrate Christmas, but I would totally use these products
So good
Gingerbread cookies! I want it!
