Beauty trends come and go, but that’s precisely why I love ‘em. You have to admit it’s fun entertaining the possibility of many hair and makeup looks (even if you do end up sticking with the same old, go-to style!).

Beauty politics
Politics isn’t necessarily something that springs to mind when I think about beauty, but this month, the influence of politics on the beauty world is undeniable. From Dove’s UK campaign inspired by Donald Trump’s infamous “alternative facts”, to manicures with a message on Instagram (shown in the video above), beauty politics is officially a thing. So, take a stand and snap up one of Kester Black’s aptly named nail polishes (below)!

Braid chains
When Vanessa Kirby debuted the braid chain at the SAG awards, beauty editors worldwide looked on in wonder. Edgy yet feminine, it was created by hair stylist Adir Abergel using a piece from his hair accessories line (and has a similar feel to the hair piercing trend we saw a little while ago). Watch the video to see Vanessa’s braid, plus get some tips on how to create your own braid chain.

Lid lingerie
Makeup giant MAC is tipping this sheer, glossy, lightly-tinted eye look to be to be the next big makeup trend – so naturally, it’s all over Instagram. Perfect for summer and surprisingly wearable, it’s also incredibly easy to create. For best results, ditch the powder eyeshadow and opt for an eye gloss or eye tint, and apply it using your fingers.

Serum foundations
If you’re going to wear foundation every day, you might as well make it a skin-friendly one. The latest serum foundations are hard to fault. Not only do they contain nourishing ingredients such as magnesium and lychee, but they also have a #nextlevel dreamy, dewy finish. Check out the video for tips on how to make serum foundation work for you.
