Unused beauty gifts

Hey Beauty Heaven Fam,

I know it’s not quite Christmas yet, but I’ve had a few early christmas get togethers so far in which gifts have been exchanged. I’ve received some makeup and skincare products that aren’t a good fit for my skin type/ and skin tone.

Besides attempting to regift, what do you all do with unused beauty products? Is there anywhere these can be donated?

As long as it’s new and unopened you can donate to any charity shop such as Vinnies or salvos which could be sold to raise funds for the needy etx.

Other people have already mentioned women’s refuges; homelessness services are slightly different but may also welcome them. If you have primary aged kids, your school might welcome donations for a mother’s day stall or to make up a raffle basket.

I know that most op shops etc won’t accept beauty products of any kind, however, I donate to the women’s refuge. The items need to be new and unopened/sealed. Unfortunately, getting access to refuges is uncommon due to the high-security requirements. I can drop donations off as I have colleagues in the DV/IPV/FV field, so I try to collect as many things as I can locally, and then drop everything off in one go (at Xmas I half-wrap things but leave one side open so they can be checked). If you are interested in doing something similar in your area I can ask around my network and see if I can get a contact person for you.

I would donate to organisations that cater for women in need like, women’s shelters or if its skin care then there are charities that help out foster kids. I’m sure there’s young teen foster kids who would appreciate anything like this.
Otherwise, Charity shops take sealed items.

So good of you to be thinking about donating especially at this time of the year

I didn’t realise they took donations for beauty products tbh

If they are in the original packaging and sealed the charity shops will take them. I was reading the other day they get less donations these days due more people being worse off financially trying to sell staff online instead of donating it.

Samples and products that are well sealed make good donations, but I remember once my daughter and I were at a charity shop and she saw a eyeshadow, she opened it to see it’s colour and there was mould growing on it.

Oh yuck. Makes me wonder about my makeup. Had it for years some of it.

Yes I like to give anything I can’t use to family and friends.

Share the Dignity is the program some people are talking about. They don’t take open packets of sanitary products, razors etc.

@Perthchick, I was going to suggest this too. There are usually lots of donation drives around Christmas collecting beauty and pantry items

I know Share the Dignity had their drive again this year. They take second hand bags and toiletries.
