Spelling!
Hi all!
Does anyone else get annoyed when you see repeated spelling errors?
I see it regularly on emails, texts and Facebook and it bugs me!

Speaking of funny things children have said…I was preparing this kid for his piano exam, and for the general knowledge question, he had to know what a Boogie was. When I asked him if he knew what it was, he was silent for a moment, and then said “Well, some would say it’s the same as snot.”
Ohhhhh that is so cute I remember doing piano exams. My pet hate is people confusing your and you’re and their and they’re. My friends call me a grammar nazi lol.

Happy Teacher’s Day!! I share the pain! I teach year one so the mistakes I get are always pretty funny! Like cocks instead of clocks and cu_t instead of can’t! You have to try to keep a straight face! haha
Oh dear! That’s quite hilarious!
My friend is an English teacher and after a spelling test that was quite difficult, my friend said, “I know you didn’t do as well as you had hoped, but it was a hard one this week wasn’t it?”
The grade 8 boy replied, “That’s what SHE said!”
My best friend had to keep from laughing! Sometimes it is so hard to keep a straight face! Kids say the most funny things! :p

Living with a teenager who texts on the mobile phone, you realize the next generation may not appreciate the written word as you do, due to lazy texting and shortening words. I do not think it is the end of the world…….It is good to have different opinions……###Sandra

They are the funny ones! 🙂
I must say that I do try my best to use correct spelling but sometimes I just get it incorrect and don’t notice but assignments are another matter, they should be re-read and corrected by the students since they are being marked on them.

I feel pedantic if I bring up someones spelling/grammar mistakes. But I can’t help it. I feel it needs to be said.
And the only time I really write now is when doing reviews for bh. I’m always worried I’ll make no sense, it’s been so long since I’ve had to write essays.
As for kids and teenagers, if grammar slides with them imagine how much worse it will be a generation later. Still, I suppose changes to languages occur this way. After all, Shakespearean used to be a spoken language, didn’t it? -

yes, it’s amazing how poorly people spell. What’s even more amazing, is that they defend their poor spelling and think you’re being pedantic if you bring it up. I’ve had people say that it’s a sign of very high intelligence if you can’t spell correctly.
LOL that’s ridiculous!! How could they say that? What a laugh.
The would of/would have one bugs me continually because people mostly don’t realize they’re wrong.
