My favourite sunscreen for my kids and myself is Naked Sundays SPF50+ Collagen Glow Mineral Perfecting Priming Lotion. It’s often on sale on their website and they have 15% off most of the year.

For my 7yo I use the Aveeno body wash for face as well as body, Aveeno moisturiser for face and body and Hamilton sunscreen. When she gets any occasional break outs, I use castor oil as either a moisturiser or spot treatment. She does like to use Nyx Fat Oil on her lips when she goes out with us on weekends, and she calls it ‘safe lipstick’.

For an 8-year-old, a simple skincare routine should focus on gentle, age-appropriate products. Start with a mild, non-drying cleanser to wash the face once a day, preferably in the evening, to remove dirt and oil. Follow up with a lightweight, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. Sunscreen is essential, especially if they spend time outdoors—use a mineral sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply as needed. A non-toxic lip balm can also help keep their lips soft and protected. Avoid harsh ingredients or exfoliants at this age, and encourage good habits like drinking water and avoiding touching the face with dirty hands. This routine will help maintain healthy, happy skin.

Tinted sunscreen and lippy should be enough

The only thing I would encourage is use of sunscreen as a habit and making sure she washes her face at least at the end of the day with a gentle cleanser.

Everything else is excessive for an 8-year-old.

    Tinted sunscreen maybe?

@Tara133: 8 years old, huh? OK. I’m imagining eyeshadow, perhaps blush & tinted lip balm – but not foundation or mascara?

Whatever she puts on has to be cleansed off before bed. I suggest either micellar water or makeup remover on a makeup pad, followed by a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin. Surely she wouldn’t need moisturiser at 8?

Perhaps a set of reusable makeup pads from Santa?
