I just saw this in a Chemist Warehouse email. I read someone mention that you had to rate how likely you’d be to buy this nail polish @ $8.95 or thereabouts. It looks like regular price is going to be $16.95!

Sally Hansen will read the reviews and surveys and will definitely take everything on board. It’s interesting how so many beauties nails reacted to the darker shades of this product, as before a product is marketed it goes through so many tests and trials before it is released to consumers. Staining would be a major problem and you’d think it would stop production for sure. It’s a mystery that’s for sure.

Well Gofton, that`s interesting.
Claire: as for using a base coat, surely that would defeat the purpose of having the argan oil in the nail polish. If you used a base coat, how would the argan oil get into your nails? Perhaps an argan oil base coat would be better.

Well I’m definitely put off by these reports of staining. I wear bright & dark colours, a lot of black & blue (to match my sense of humour). I reckon I’d have given 2 stars if I’d been on this trial.

I really appreciate the feedback regarding the staining! THe whole point of trial teams in the honesty, so there is nothing to feel bad about at all !! Be proud you have upheld your integrity 🙂
Would any of you beauties with the darker shades be willing to try the darker shades with a base coat and give feedback here please?

Hi Oonga,
Once my nails recover, I have the SH 7 in 1 day complete care, I`ll use that as a base coat and see if there is any difference. To be safe, I`ll paint my toe nails and not my finger nails because I usually paint them red or dark colour so if it does stains again, I can easily hide it.I`ll report back when I do get a chance to re do them.

It stained my toes far worse then my fingers! I just went down to my local nail bar, the nail technician was shocked at the staining! I had already tried to remove the polish then they soaked, scrubbed and tried remover again with little success. So we put black polish over to cover. Now I almost always wear black or red nail polish on my toes and I have never had staining this bad.
My fingers weren’t quite as bad with the staining but the polish itself had experienced much more wear and tear (naturally). I am very fussy with nail polish and remove or repair as soon as I have one little chip (and with the teal colour it was very obvious when there was wear and tear). This particular shade I probably got 2 good days out of it. I got a lightish shade of shellac over the staining which worked pretty well (regular nail polish in the same shade would not have been as successful me thinks!).
I’m actually pretty dissapointed and with the staining I put this at below average. I feel bad not giving it a great rating because a different/lighter shade may have been fantastic but i can only go on the shade I trialled. I did like the wider brush for application and it was the best in terms of drying quickly between coats and still giving a vibrant full colour with only 2 thin coats needed.

Oh no, you too Miss Margaret 🙁
I left my mani on for about 5-6 days and my pedi for 7 days. Funnily enough, my polish didn`t chip that readily, I only removed it because I wanted to change the colour, I`m glad I didn`t wait 7 plus days as i think it could have been worse. My toes nails are still blue, I removed my polish only today, I`ll have another go at it with nail polish remover tonight after showering. I didn`t have time to deal with blue nails during the week, but now it`s the weekend I`ll have to paint them again.
I ended up giving it 3 stars and like you, I think it would have been a better rating if I had received a lighter shade. I don`t know if I was over generous with 3, but I guess it was slightly influenced by other members positive experience.
It was a bit disappointing but I`m still happy that I was able to trial it and warn others about potential issues.
I hope your nails recover xx -

I think perhaps it is the Argan oil that causes the staining. It seems the point of them creating this nail polish is that you use it on bare nails so that the Argan oil can work it`s magic and help improve your nails. I think if I had of had a light colour I probably would have given 4 stars. I settled on 2 stars in the end 🙁 The staining is bad and any extra nourishment by the oil is certainly eliminated by the need to use remover and scrub and buff to try and remove the staining! I also did a bit of research on the RRP for Australia and it appears to be $16.99 (sourced via Priceline and cross checked with Chemist Warehouse). Not the $8.99 that was suggested on the survey. So the price knocked an extra star off for me too (I mentioned this in the survey and the review, seeking clarification from BH or Sally Hansen).

Yes, the price was incorrect in the survey, I wonder if we can amend our answer, because I did say that $8.99 was good value but I don`t think I would pay full price for the polish. I checked the price today at Priceline, after I completed my survey the other day….doh!
CW always has 50% sales so I would wait for a sale to pick up my nude or other colours. You might be right about the Argan oil making it stain more, it`s like it helped to penetrate the nail more and if the shade was lighter you wouldn`t have noticed it so much.
I`m glad the other beauties has a better experience, it`s good for brands to see real life feedback and hopefully they take the helpful criticism on board to improve their future products.

Miss Margaret, you can`t “”feel bad”” about giving the product a below average rating. I think it`s really helpful for anyone not on the trial and even those on the trial who received paler colours to know what happened.
I hope it doesn`t turn anyone who loves softer nude/pink colours from trying it if you like those colours because it`s been fabulous for those of us who`ve commented in this thread who received the soft colours.
I really do feel for all of you who had staining issues. With the nail technician being horrified, Miss Margaret I`d have flipped.

Oh wow, reading all the comments on staining makes me feel super lucky I got a nude shade. Had I gotten a dark one, it wouldn`t have been a new holy grail discovery for me! Glad the extra two shades I picked up from Priceline were soft shades too (as I don`t wear nudes that often I thought it`d be great to expand it with the wonderful Colour Therapy line). I`ll be sure to steer clear from the deeper shades! 🙂 Thank you for the helpful feedback. Devastated to hear these haven`t worked out for everyone.

Hi Trish,
Thanks for your concern, I`m glad to report that the staining has faded and my nails are almost back to normal. For a while there, I looked like I had really bad circulation, with blue nails. I had to buff them gently and then I used remover for the third time!
I would definitely use a base coat for dark colours, I`ve also painted my toe nails and I`ve yet to remove the polish, so I`ll probably have blue toes too 😛 it`s been 8 days and mani on m toes are still in good nick.I still really enjoyed the trial and it hasn`t put me off buying more from the range. I`ll probably pick up a pale pink and nude colour.
I`ve done the survey but I haven`t written my reviews yet. I`m in a bit of a quandary of how many stars to rate, it would have been 5 but with the staining, I was thinking 3, is that too low? Hmmmm…. thinking…. -

Same happened to me Claire! Going to paint my toes in their usual shade of red today lol

Haha we could invent a whole new look with our strange toe colour!

Claire88, I think that rating is fair. After all, we are basing our rating on the experience we had with the particular trial product that we were sent. If my shade of nail polish stained my nails like yours did, I would have given it a 3 Star Rating too. You are doing the correct thing by mentioning that the staining may occur with other Sally Hansen Colour Therapy dark shades based on your trial experience.

Claire, I might not have given even a 3 star rating with the staining problem! It`s such a shame because with the paler colours and even Arty Girl`s reddish colour it`s a beautiful nail polish.
Where to now, Claire? Is it safe to put another colour on top or do you need to give your nails a break for a short time?

Trish, after about 3 days, 3 lots of nail polish remover and buffing my nails, my nails are almost back to normal. Phew, I was relieved! I didn`t know if this was going to be permanent or not. I used cuticle oil and hand cream regularly to get my hands and nails back into shape. My toes nails are still stained blue, it looks like I have very poor circulation! I`ll scrub them again tonight in the shower and use nail polish remover again and I`m hoping that they will look better again.
I`ve painted my fingers nails a pale pinky white, lol another Sally Hansen polish to give them a break 🙂

Did anyone else notice how the survey said that the Sally Hansen Colour Therapy Nail Polish and Top Coat cost $8.99 each ? The question asked whether we thought this price was reasonable and whether we`d buy the Colour Therapy at this price. The thing is….the regular retail price at Priceline is $16.95 (I think), not $8.99. If it really did cost $8.99 in Australia, it would be a reasonable price but $16.95 is a tad expensive for me. I assumed the Sally Hansen Survey we were given were prices quoted in the US and answered that question as if I was living there. So I`m not sure if I answered correctly because I said “”Yes”” to $8.99 if the Colour Therapy Range was at that price here in Australia normally.
