Peninsula Hot Springs, Rye (VIC)

OMG!!! I love this place! You can wallow in the gorgeous hot springs for as little as $20 for as long as you like, or you can get a group of friends together and hire a private spring – great for a girly getaway. I took my mum there for her 50th and I also took my babies – its like a big warm bath. I like to go in the cooler months. Peninsula Hot Springs also has a spa where you can get all sorts of treatments – bliss. It has a restaurant too, so you really can stay all day if you want.

This looks fantastic. I`m going to treat myself one of these days..

Morning weekdays are the cheapest and I would think less crowded. Gotta do it soonn

I lived near the springs but it was always too busy and crowded and crowds make me anxious not relaxed lol. Would have loved to go and and have the private baths and steam room but way too expensive for me at the time.

This is so funny! I was just given a day pass voucher for the peninsula hot springs and thought I`d make a thread asking about people`s experiences – imagine my surprise when this shows up on the first page!!
I`m taking my best friend and we`re gonna split the price of her admission. SO excited!! Are you allowed to leave and have lunch somewhere else, or bring your own? Disappointing food could ruin a day like that…

The food isn`t that bad… 🙂 I don`t think you can leave and have lunch or bring your own. Oh, and their handmade juices are AMAZING. I now really feel like going haha…best time for it, it`s freezing out!

Yes there are gross things in the sea, but there`s also a hell of a lot more water to dilute them;p

    good point cat lover!

I like the concept of it, but I have a bit of an aversion to lolling about in water that strangers have been in. I guess the heat and circulation of the water would kill the germs though….at least I hope it does!

Actually, I have a friend who got very sick after being there….so un-explained virus. She said her doctor had asked her if she had been swimming in the Yarra!!! I had been wanting to go to the Hot Springs too, and live quite close, but that just put me right off!!!

Ewwww! No wonder you were put off PF! I don`t use public pools either. Just the thought of all those other peoples `parts` being in the water grosses me out. Yes, I know that`s why they use chlorine, but still!

Ooh, I love the springs and have been there quite a few times! I loved the dine and bathe package at night because it was mostly adults and no children running and splashing around.

How was the food? The brekkie and bathe didn`t have great food but we were willing to forgive them because it was pretty cheap and the baths just put us all in a good mood lol

It was good, but nothing I`d be dying to go back for, if that makes sense. 😉 I`d say filling, hearty, simple flavours…affordable for 3 course meal + one glass wine (I think?) and inclusive of coffee, which was good. So combined with the 3 hours of bathing, and free robe/locker hire/slippers, not a bad deal all in all. 🙂

And it was just really nice to sit around with friends in your robes, under a starlit sky. 🙂

They have changed quite a bit from the very first time I went and it`s gorgeous there now.

I do believe they disinfect the pools every day anyway, so I don`t think it`s that easy to catch something from someone else being in the water with you.
