Mattifiers

I thought I’d start a thread dedicated to mattifiers for ease of reference, seeing as they seem to be a hot topic of discussion!

So….

Which mattifiers have you tried & liked?

Which ones just don’t work?

Which ones work best with what kind of make-up?

For me, the Dermalogica one seems to work better under powder mineral foundation, whereas the Lancome Pure Focus is amazing when applied over any kind of makeup or even just on its own.

I`m still using the Dermalogica, which does pretty well. I`ve also bought the Mattify! Ultra Oil Control Powder from the US (gotta love $$ parity!!) which does an amazing job either under or over makeup – but don`t use it where your skin is even SLIGHTLY dry, or it will cling and look horrid! Their website is quite helpful too: http://www.mattifycosmetics.com

One that really surprised me of late is the Mirenesse Eclipse Face Balm. It keeps my make-up from sliding off all day and totally keeps the oil at bay – but I can`t justify the cost per application ($70 for a tiny pack that only lasts a few weeks). I`ll wait for it to go on sale or be part of a package again. I`m also a bit peeved that it was originally advertised as SPF50, but is now only SPF15 and the formula hasn`t seemed to change……

yeah – the mirenesse one is awesome but i am lucky to get a month out of it….though i feel like 3/4 of the product is stuck in the sponge!! I don`t often wear foundation and this one works really well to even out my skintone and leave it matte, even on its own with out foundation. I also wait for it to go on sale…thats the good thing with mirenesse – they often have some product on sale, but it does make me wonder if their full prices are a bit of a rort…ie are they inflated to make the sales look extra awesome? they can be really expensive when not on sale.

skitx…can you post here if the eclipse goes back on sale or is in a pack. I stopped subscribing to the emails as i was getting too many…though maybe i should just sign back up and delete them without opening them if i dont feel like spending money

Good thinking 99, that is what I do, most don`t get read but at least I get to see the actual heading so that is what normally determines if I read them or not, lol. While I rarely buy anything from them, I am glad I subscribe because I wouldn`t have ever discovered their skin clone foundation, which I love so much if it were not for an extremely good offer of $12 last year. I wouldn`t pay the full price but like to stay in the loop in case they come on special again 🙂
