Fake fragrances

One day I bought a cheap perfum but when I opened the bottle at home, I finally realized that it was a fake one because the bottle was in plastic.

I brought 2 perfumes yesterday, beautiful and definetly not fake. What my biggest problem is why do we ladies need perfume, one of the perfumes i got yesterday i had been eyeing for months. Im still in love and addicted but its strange sometimes haha.

I’ve never had an issue buying fragrances from Chemist Warehouse. Genuine products and great prices.

Chemist Warehouse buy from the Grey Market – which is purchased from suppliers overseas, usually the middle east. Some of these suppliers hold their stock in hot warehouses which will turn fragrance.
It’s very hit and miss and hard to detect.
I bought two fragrances from a side stall in Thailand (knowing they were 100% fake) 1 Ralph and the other Joop, I work for a Fragrance Retailer and was curious to see how they differed from the real deal – every word on the packaging was identical AND even scarier they scanned in our system.
If your worried make sure you ask who your buying from if they purchase their products from AUSTRALIAN licensed suppliers.

I work at a Chemist Warehouse and I do the fragrance ordering monthly! We have various agency accounts such as Coty Prestige, Cosmax, Trimex & Loreal Luxe. Those agencies supply luxury goods such as Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Armani, Saint Laurent etc… Exactly the same as Myer & David Jones. Difference between us and the department stores is we sell larger volume of stock for a lower profit margin.

I think most of the time its psychological with our customers. Its a completely different environment & experience when you walk into a Warehouse in opposed to a department store, which could explain why people doubt the stock!

My mom-in-law bought a sealed Elizabeth Arden Red Door from CW a few years back as a gift to my aunt. Unfortunately, the bottle was empty. She returned the bottle and the employee was nice enough to replace it. She said there are some who actually steals from them and replace the new perfumes with boxes of empty perfumes. You wouldn’t know the difference as it’s even sealed. We still buy from CW and love the low prices and luckily hasn’t experienced the same problem again. I guess that explains security around the perfume section that I see on every store.
And I do believe they’re all authentic!

CW are so CHEAP! There’s always a security guard at the exit of the ones near me. Why would anyone shoplift when the products are sold so cheaply?

That’s a great reply from a CW staff. I buy my perfumes from CW because otherwise I cant afford any 🙁
