Experiences with group buying websites e.g. Spreets, Scoopon, DealMe

There’s been a lot of online coupon offers for beauty salon treatments so I thought we should have a thread where we can share experiences.

I have purchased a voucher for a facial, body massage and eyebrow tint at the Revival Lounge in Brisbane. Will report back after my visit.

Some of the offers look amazing, especially ones in Sydney.

Make sure you google the company behind the offer is sound before buying a voucher. Have bought some good ones so far though, except one awful Noodle King one from Scoopon.

    Good advice!

I don’t rate the deals I’ve tried at all. I had a Spreets deal for a place that claimed to be a day spa. It was a room above a hairdressers. For my massage, I was only given one towel to cover myself. I gave them 2 months notice that I would be heavily pregnant (35 weeks) when coming in, and they did not have so much as a pillow or bolster for me! Draping was appaling- had my butt hanging out for most of the massage. Never again!

i LOVE scoopon. they always have amazing deals. i mostly buy restaurant deals – and so far every single one of them have been amazing!!

catch of the day have massive beauty sales here and there with cheap perfumes, cosmetics etc – it’s a good chance to try something different, without having to pay the RRP.

    Hey guys !
I just discovered a new group buying website called qoop.com.au. I thought they were fantastic. I bought a massage deal from them a few weeks back. The best thing was the more people that bought the deal the cheaper it got so I saved an additional $10. I also just noticed that you can get $10 free credit today !

I’ve purchased a few things from Scoopon, Catch Of The Day and Jump On It. Always been really happy, not a complaint.

Not really, I need more near Joonadlup, Hillary’s and North Beach (won’t go further than north beach) as I’ve got too littlies and I don’t like to be too far away when I leave them with a sitter.
There’s always heaps in northbridge and the cbd, subiaco and freo so you should get lucky soon!!

Ok thanks! There’s a restaurant deal on scoopon right now for a Chinese Restaurant in Vic Park…might be closer to where you live 🙂 Deal costs $49, worth $145.

I’m keeping my eye out for something SOR, Freo or CBD…will let you know when I do get one. 🙂

Yeah you just enter your credit card or debit card details and buy it, if the deal isn’t on you wo’t be charged until enough people buy into it for it to be live.
I think the restraunt deals would be alot better than the salon services, as I know 3 others who have complained about the hairdresser coupons. I’ve used scoopon and spreets only, I’m signed up to more but there’s not much I need.
Let me know if the restraunt coupons are good!! Some of them sound really good but are alwyas SOR and I live nth.

Oh thanks MissChriss! Is that the same for other sites? They just sell too many vouchers and are flat out serving everyone 🙁 Hope your microdermabrasion goes well!

It’s cool you can use it immediately 🙂 I’m looking to buy restaurant/meal deals.

Another question, and this might seem silly but what is the process to pay? I’ve read the faq and they say by credit card so is it like shopping online? After you click the “Buy Now” do you enter your credit card details even if the “deal is not on” ?

    Thanks!
