God bless the Internet, beauties… A super-excited Canadian fashion editor posted a picture of Lady Gaga’s first fragrance, LADY GAGA FAME, on Twitter early this week, and while this is a normal action for us in the industry, the only problem was this: it was embargoed information. Yep, totally top secret. Oh, well. Too late now…
But this is fantastic news for us, because it’s forced Lady Gaga to speak out about her debut juice – a scent that has kept the rumour mill spinning for over a year. “Looks like photos of my perfume are being leaked. Oh you fashion editors I could just crinkle my hands at you!” she tweeted on Wednesday. But, instead of getting too mad, she followed it up with a picture of the back of the fragrance packaging:
Question is, do the notes in the perfume – a mix of tears of Belladonna, honey, saffron, apricot nectar, tiger orchid and jasmine sambac – really smell like the rumoured blood and semen, or as the Mother Monster herself would say, an “expensive hooker”? Well, kind of. Together, this combination of notes creates a dark and sensual scent; one that oozes a sense of sex appeal and feminine strength.
In addition to the mysteriously sexy notes, Lady Gaga has taken her eccentricity one step further – LADY GAGA FAME is a black-to-clear juice. Yep, the liquid in the bottle is actually black, but once it comes into contact with air (read: spritzed onto your skin), it turns clear. INSANE, right? But so ridiculously cool, and exactly what we’d expect from the seriously zany singer.
The scent hits shelves in September this year, which is when she’ll also be releasing her new album. Oh, and she’ll have her mug plastered on the covetable September issue of Vogue at the same time, too. Do I see world domination ahead? Erm, yes. If she hasn’t already conquered our planet earth already…
Random sidenote: I, along with some other beauty peeps, may be going batty, but I can’t help but think the art deco-esque LADY GAGA FAME bottle looks a little like Thierry Mugler’s Alien…Yes, I realise the bottle is actually clear (it’s the black juice that gives it its dark hue), but the gold, armour-like detailing is just a wee bit similar, me thinks.
