Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Have Officially Tied The Knot In Vegas

It’s official — your favourite 2000s (and 2020s) couple, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have tied the knot. The pair said ‘I do’ in Las Vegas before celebrating their nuptials with an intimate reception.

JLo confirmed the news in her newsletter On The JLo after multiple news outlets had reported that the pair had obtained a marriage license and filed for a name change.

Bennifer forever after

It’s been a whirlwind second engagement for Bennifer, who confirmed the news of their engagement in April this year. And now they have made their love as official as can be.

“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” the pop star, actress and beauty mogul wrote in her newsletter. She then went on to explain all the details…

“Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us two men held hands and held each other… all of us wanting the same thing— for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.”

“So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” she wrote.

Oh how we love a shotgun wedding!

JLo then said that, although not expected of the pair (and a far cry from the plot of her latest movie Marry Me), the low-key Vegas wedding was their dream come true. “In the end, it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of long ago and one made real (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and one another) at very, very long last.”

All you need is love

“They were right when they said, ‘all you need is love’. We are so grateful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family of five amazing children, and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to.”

And she made it clear the two are more in love than ever before. “Stick around long enough and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life in a drive through in Las Vegas at twelve thirty in the morning and at the tunnel of love drive through, with your kids and the one you’ll spend forever with. Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and worth waiting for.”

“They were right when they said, “all you need is love”. We are so grateful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family of five amazing children and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to,” Jen wrote before signing off as Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.

Love is patient

It’s been a wild ride for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who rekindled their romance in 2021 after breaking off a two-year engagement back in 2004.

“We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things,” JLo explained to People earlier this year.

“It’s a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other. We always did, but we have even more of an appreciation because we know that life can take you in different directions.”
