5 minutes with…Emma Stone

When we got offered the chance to do a phone interview with Emma Stone, one of the newest faces of Revlon, we literally jumped at the chance (in fact, bh’s Carli who happens to have a major girl crush on her, actually nearly cried). Here’s what went down during our chat…

bh: When it comes to hair, you’re quite the chameleon. Which hair colour have you loved best?

ES: Well, I’ve always only ever dyed my hair for work, for roles. So I guess it all depends, I really like having red hair because its fun, blonde hair is the easiest because it grows out of my head blonde, so I don’t have to dye it as often.

bh: Have you had any hair dyeing disasters? Or ever had a colour when you thought, “no way, I’m never going back there”?

ES: Um, it was almost black at a point, and I’m really, really pale. Some people look fantastic with black hair and really pale skin, but it did not look great on me!

bh: What’s the most useful make-up tip you’ve ever been taught?

ES: Good skin care actually. When you’re taking care of your skin, everything is a little easier make-up wise when you’ve got good skin underneath.

bh: What was the first thing you did after you found out you were going to be one of the faces of Revlon?

ES: I went to Disneyland! No, just kidding… well, they don’t just approach you like, “you’re going to be the new face of Revlon”. They’re nice, they ask…I never thought that a beauty company would ask me to be involved with them and I was blow-drying my hair after a shower and I looked and saw it was a Revlon hair dryer and then I looked down at my make-up bag and I realised that I had Revlon foundation that I was about to put on and it was like a sign! It had already infiltrated my life in a pretty major way, without me even knowing it.

bh: Do you have a favourite shade in the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain range?

ES: Yes! Let me see if I can find it in my bag, hang on. It’s a really cool, purple-y fuchsia one…[rummages through her bag]…one second…wait I have it… it’s called Darling!

bh: And in the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter range, do you have a favourite shade?

ES: I like Candy Apple.

bh: You grace the red carpet fairly regularly. Do you have a favourite red carpet look?

ES: I went to an Oscars after party a couple years ago and I had very red hair at the time and a little black dress and these big green earrings and red lipstick…Rachel Goodwin’s pretty much always done my hair and make up, and she did it that night and I really liked it. It was really simple, but it felt like me, and I loved that.

bh: Is there a body part or feature that you get complimented on the most when people meet you?

ES: I don’t know…I never really paid attention to that. Pretty much anytime someone gives me a compliment it goes straight out the other ear…but I guess my eyes sometimes, because my eyes are you know, borderline strangely big, so haha people compliment me on the size of my eyes sometimes. But I mean more than anything people comment on my hair colour, by no credit of my own, you know, just a good colourist so that’s something people actually compliment me on!

bh: What’s the first beauty product you ever remember buying?

ES: Probably Lip Smackers, you know, just the flavoured chapsticks, yeah that was cool when I was like, eight or something, you know it was probably like a Bubble Gum, Strawberry or Dr. Pepper flavoured Lip Smacker.

bh: Is there an era or a decade in time that you think had great beauty style?

ES: The Sixties, because beauty-wise they kind of spanned the whole spectrum of what you could do with beauty – from no make-up at all to the Twiggy look…in the Sixties they were pretty much incorporating all the things were doing now.

bh: Last beauty question, what’s the one product you can’t live without?

ES: Sunscreen…definitely sunscreen…you know, for obvious reasons!

Do you love Emma Stone as much as we do? Which hair colour do you think suits her best? Do you have any celeb girl crushes?
