Three must-do pre-date prep steps

Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is looming. And if you’re heading out on a hot date, chances are you’ve already got your outfit, hair and make-up planning downpat. But it also pays to be prepared in a few other areas, too…

Get hair prepared

When it comes to getting hot-date-ready, rule #1 is to get fuzz-free (don’t even think about trying the “but if I have hairy legs/bikini line I won’t be tempted to move too fast’ line – you know you’ll only end up in his bathroom secretly dry shaving with his razor!). The best option is to get your hair removal sorted a day or two before your date – that way any residual redness or irritation will have died down and, if you decide you want to fake tan it the night before, your hair follicles will no longer be wide open, so you’re guaranteed a more even, spot-free application.
Top tip: don’t have time/don’t like to get a Brazilian but don’t want to go full bush, either? Then you’ll love the Gillette Venus Bikini Trimmer. It looks like a razor, but thanks to a nifty comb encasing, it works to merely trim the hair on your bikini line, rather than shave it right off.

Prep your pout (and your mouth!)

If you’re hoping for a Valentine’s smooch, it pays to do some pre-date prep in the area involved. This should include a quick lip buff to remove any scratchy dead skin, as well as some serious mouth freshening (we’re talking teeth brushing, flossing and mouth washing!) Try Listerine Zero for an instant burst of freshness without the too-strong sensation. If you’d planned to sport a pop of colour on your lips it’s also a good idea to opt for a colour-stay option as your man definitely won’t want to be the one wearing your red lippy at the end of the night! We like: L’Oreal Infalliable Le Rouge.

Smell sensational

Whether they show it outwardly or not, men have pretty strong primal instincts when it comes to the opposite sex, which means that a tantalising scent will pique their interest every time. Find out what sort of scent your man likes and be sure to spritz it – subtly of course, no one likes to be suffocated by a scent – on your pulse points before you head out on your date. Alternatively, prep yourself in the shower with a deliciously-scented body wash, then slather on the matching moisturising lotion and reap the double benefit of having irresistible smell and skin that’s like silk to touch. We like: The Body Shop Chocomania Shower Cream and Chocomania Body Lotion.
