Unless you’ve opted for a yellow nail polish, discoloured nails are not exactly a good look.
If you’re having trouble keeping your nails from yellowing, follow these simple nail tips:
1) Apply a base coat. Before applying nail polish, always apply a base coat, especially with dark coloured nail shades. Nail polish can stain the nail bed, so by applying a base coat, you’re creating a protective barrier. Try: Sally Hansen Diamond Shine Base and Top Coat
2) Whiten. Apply a nail whitener to your yellow nails. The whitener penetrates your nails to remove stains and whiten and brighten your nails. Try: Manicare Nail Whitener.
3) Go natural. There’s a variety of natural stain removers you can use to remove yellow stains from your nails. Potatoes, lemon juice, vinegar, and salt and olive oil, can all help remove the stain.
4) Don’t smoke. Amongst other things, smoking causes unsightly discoloured nails (and fingertips too!). So try to break the habit and spend your cigarette money on a professional manicure or new nail polish instead – your nails will love you for it!
