Holding an applicator tampon to the screen, TikTok user @ag380gtmgtm revealed: “I’m about to show you a life hack”. And boy, oh boy did she ever.
“Pour some nail polish remover in the lid here and soak it up” she instructed as she dipped a tampon into poured out nail polish, allowing it to soak for a few seconds until the tampon was adequately saturated.
Going on to demonstrate, she rubbed the tip of the tampon to successfully remove the polish off her big toe, holding the end of the applicator as a handle.
And voila, “you can take your nail polish off without messing up your fingernails.”
After its initial upload in April, TikTok user @ag380gtmgtm’s video has already received over one million views. So if you were feeling a little sheepish to try this beauty hack out, it’s safe to say you’ll have a few million companions right beside you.

I agree don’t use tampons this way.
Oh no really!!! Please invest in some fantastic OPI nail wipes instead.
interesting, i would use this if I was travelling or on a budget
Cleaver idea but I wouldn’t do it.
Interesting. Not something ive done or would do as I dont have tampons in the house anyway.
Hmmm, well that’s an interesting hack!
I don’t use tampons (reusable cup is everything!). So to remove polish I just need cotton thingy and it works great (with good strong polish remover).
Wouldn’t have never imagined using a Tampon like that as a Nail Polish Remover, I am at an age now where I don’t use Tampons anymore.
So clever!
Funny how someone even though to do that!
Never thought about using a tampon that way before
Handy and creative!
No tampons here either but If I had them I would give it a go sounds like a very clever hack.
A cotton pad will do my nails just fine thanks
Toenail polish lasts ages on me – much longer than my fingernails, so if I’m redoing both, I always do my toes first.
Really? Not something I’d think of.
Not something I would do, I don’t use tampons anymore.
It would be interesting to try to see if it works from the first nail to the last.
What’s wrong with a cotton bud?
What will people come up with next?!
I think the point is to not ruin you nail polish on your fingernails when redoing your feet but it’s very very rare (actually never) that my fingernail polish is in a better state than my toenails.
I hadn’t thought of that but I suppose it might take a few to do it.
Expensive trick. Might be easier to just use a tissue?
They are very absorbent, I just think of the amount of remover they would soak up and ultimately waste.
This hack looks really good especially love how she’s got a applicator so no remover on fingers, I hate that feeling on my skin.
Learn something new everyday
Creative especially if you run out of cotton balls
Seems very wasteful, if you don’t want to wreck your mani just touch up your toenails with fresh polish or a darker colour until you can do a proper job.
An expensive hack, I feel like it is a waste of a tampon.
Why doesn’t she just wear disposable gloves which can be used a few times.
I can’t think of a suitable, printable response.
Now I am curious!!
That was my first thought as well. And a it really only makes sense if you’re doing just your toenails, but since your fingernails are more prone to chipping and need to be done more often (not to mention coordinating toenails and fingernails is something most of us do), I really don’t think it’s all that impressive.
That is a really good point.
Ellyloves, I just shook my head and thought “which planet am I” because it isn’t the same as the one they’re on!!
I was going to say the exact same thing
I don’t use tampons…but I assume a pad will work just as well? LOL
I really can’t see the point of it. I’ve successfully removed nail polish for decades without having to waste a tampon.
I’ll stick to a tissue.
Why bother? A cotton ball works well
I just do my toes at the same time I do my fingers. Is that a life hack? : )
What a clever idea to save finger nails. I find my fingers a total mess when taking off red toe nail polish but at my age, I am not going out to buy tampons. I would get strange looks I am sure.
Usually my finger nails nailpolish chips faster than my toenails nailpolish. So if I am redoing ym nails I am redoing my finger nails too.
Another Covid Tik Tok experiment that we don’t need
Not tried this method and not sure i will.
Weird and expensive.
Ditto.
Silly things people come up with.
SIGH What next???
Speechless.
