If you’re a budding nail artiste, then you’re bound to want to know the tricks of the trade. Namely, which polishes are best for all of your nail art needs. So we decided to send out four different kinds of polishes (ok, one was a nail sticker) to some of our members to find out which were the crème of the crop in the world of nail art.
MAYBELLINE NEW YORK COLOR SHOW NAIL COLOR
We say:
Available in on-trend runway shades, the long-lasting colours are perfect for nail art looks. Plus, the brush applies the polish like a dream and the formula is chip-proof.
You say:
Pros:
“I found the lasting time of these polishes quite impressive for the price. Without a topcoat they lasted three days, but with a good topcoat my nail polish lasted a week before they started to chip.” – Kiwi@heart.Read more…
“Maybelline Color Show Nail Color is easy to use and there are some beautiful colours in the range. I especially loved the “delicate” appearance of “Born With It” and the “brightness” of “Fuchsia Fever”. “Sapphire Siren” is also a nice shade of blue. They’re good for designing small floral patterns or bows in nail art.” – Arty Girl.Read more…
Cons:
“I found that the white colour was a little harder to get a streak-free finish and I needed three coats to get an even finish. Once a topcoat was applied on the white and purple polish, the streaks disappeared.” – Marina_87.Read more…
“I did notice that the first coat applies streaky so a second or even third coat is required for even smooth coverage.” – Arty Girl. Read more…

SINFULCOLORS
We say:
The polishes – available in cream, glitter, matte, pearl, and shimmer finishes – offer long-lasting colour and are gentle on nails.
You say:
Pros:
“This nail polish is thin and easy to apply, and it applied evenly without streaks. After two coats it was opaque, however, if I wanted to, I could probably get by with just one coat. After drying (which didn’t take too long) it had a nice and glossy shine.” – Jessica712.Read more…
“I found it perfect for nail art, as I had no problem getting it to show its true colour over other nail polishes. Because it was so opaque, I had not problems with streakiness.” – Kiwi@heart. Read more…
Cons:
“ I tried applying it a number of different ways to build up the polish as part of my nail art look or just to make a statement nail of glitter and it didn’t work. The glitter is too fine and watery.” – Marina_87.Read more…
“I love the shimmer to this colour, especially in the sunlight. I did however find it difficult to use this shade to create some nail art due to its jelly crème like consistency.” – Jessica712.Read more…

1000 HOUR 3D NAIL WRAPS
We say:
These wraps are a nail art novice’s dream. Each wrap features a glorious pattern that helps your nails look professional and pretty without you having to do much at all.
You say:
Pros:
“Overall I really liked these nail wraps. If you love nail art but are not so great at doing it yourself, then this is a quick and pretty alternative. I really like that there is a wide range of patterns and I think these are a great alternative for when you don’t have the patience for nail art but want pretty nails.” – Jessica712.Read more…
“These nail wraps are the perfect tool for quick and easy nails when you are in a hurry (no drying time) or don’t have the patience or creativity to do nail art.” – Marina_87.Read more…
Cons:
“ Filing at the nail edge can cause the resin coating on the nail wrap to “shatter” resulting in tiny bits falling off. When this occurs, it takes some of the coloured nail wrap with it resulting in a “worn-looking” nail edge.” – Arty Girl. Read more…
“ Within a couple of days the tips of my nails started to shows signs of wear, even with the use of a top coat as recommended on the packaging. Also the edges around the cuticle started to lift and in a few days the edges got caught in my hair while I showered which was quite annoying.” – Kiwi@heart.Read more…

CHI CHI PEARL BEAD MANICURE
We say:
The handy kit comes with everything you need to create a next-level nail art look – four polishes and three different types of coloured glass beads.
You say:
Pros:
“Application was a lot easier than I thought. I applied a thin 1st coat of polish and then a thicker second. Then I found the best way was to simply put my nail into the container of beads as this prevented a lot of mess. I then just worked my around the rest of my nails. I did love the look that this kit produces as it is quite different to anything I has tried before. The beads really do give a 3D look to the nail.” – Kiwi@heart. Read more…
“I found that the glass bead manicure was quite a statement and I received lots of complements from strangers. I loved looking at them. All in all I give the product a 5/5.” – Marina_87. Read more…
Cons
“One problem I did have was that I found the beads to be quite scratchy, so you do need to be careful how your nails interact with your skin and hair while wearing the beads.” – Kiwi@heart.Read more…
“Within two days of applying the manicure, I noticed slight wearing away of the glass pearl beads at the free edge of each nail. I also understand now why it is important to coordinate the nail polish with its matching colour pearl beads. Doing so results in a “clean” colour being produced and gaps less obvious when beads begin to fall off the nail bed.” – Arty Girl.Read more…
