Tim Mannah is no stranger to male grooming – which is just as well, as the high-profile Parramatta Eels player always has to scrub up nicely for the ultimate ‘big night’, the annual Dally M Awards.

I caught up with him in the lead-up to the night to talk fashion, sport and of course – grooming, and got to sample his famously fun nature and positive attitude. I met him in George & King’s Sydney showroom where he could barely contain his excitement over deciding how his customised suit for the big night would look.
Not wanting to be too fashion- forward, he felt most comfortable with a classic black slim-fit look but to express a bit more personality, chose a bright blue and yellow lining for private pleasure and a show of respect for his team.
So, with suit done and dusted, how was he going to prepare for the big night? What kind of male grooming plans in the lead-up?
“Designer stubble, two days should do it,” he answered.
Tim explained that for men’s shaving prior to an event, men often let their facial hair grow for a few days until it reaches the desired length and then they shave it. That way, they know that shaving two or three days before an important event will give them the perfect ‘manicured growth’.
Tim also revealed that at 25, he’s already getting a little more serious about men’s skin care. “I use NIVEA for Men Moisturiser and NIVEA Rich Nourishing Body Lotion,” he declared proudly.
As an NRL fan I was proud, too – I guess I’d assumed that footy players wouldn’t have a skin care regimen in place. Wrong! Apparently NIVEA Rich Nourishing Body Lotion is the most popular product used in the Eels sheds post-match – by the whole team! Oops, I promised not to spill that part…
The Dally M Awards will be showcased at 8:30pm AEST on Fox Sports.
