The Secret To Kathryn Hahn’s Svelte Figure In ‘Agatha All Along’

It’s been a week since Marvel’s Agatha All Along series debuted on Disney+, but we’re still not over Kathryn Hahn streaking through the first five minutes of the premiere episode.

The 51 year old cut a svelte figure as her confused character, Agatha, made a mad dash through the neighbourhood of Westview in her birthday suit that left us questioning our own wellness and workout regimens. In case you haven’t seen the episode yet, just take our word for it — the woman looks good.

However, the decision for the actress to strip down for the role wasn’t made by Marvel executives or showrunner Jac Schaeffer…

Agatha All Along‘s Nude Scene Was Kathryn Hahn’s Idea

“Well, I came up with it,” Kathryn told Variety. “I thought it was good to see her as stripped down, literally, as we possibly could, which spoke into her powerlessness at the present moment.”

“She’s been stripped of all of her power at this point in the series,” she explained.

“I mean, she really had nothing at that point, and so it became about illustrating that gap between that moment and her finding her power again,” Kathryn went on to say in the interview.

The moment in question, was a complete surprise to showrunner, Jac Schaeffer, who told the publication that in the script, a robe had been written into the scene.

“Kathryn was like, ‘Would she grab the robe? I don’t feel like she would grab the robe. I feel like she would really not care about being naked in front of the neighbours,'” he shared. “I told her, ‘That is the greatest idea I’ve ever heard.'”

“Kathryn has done so much work, and she’s done a lot of nudity and other things, and so it also felt very subversive to get Kathryn Hahn’s nudity into the MCU,” Jac explained. “It is so true to her character, and it makes me laugh out loud, and also, I mean, she looks incredible.”

We second that.

In fact, after watching Agatha All Along‘s double-episode premiere on Thursday we immediately started searching for Kathryn Hahn’s workout routine. Kathryn has only shared a soundbite here and there on the topic throughout the years, but the actress has some great advice nonetheless.

Working Out Is Important For Maintaining Your Mental Health

“Working out has become a really important part of my life mentally,” Kathryn told People in 2021. “I feel beautiful after I’ve worked out.”

“Exercise wasn’t really a part of myself growing up, so I do feel beautiful when I feel like I’ve accomplished something physically,” she went on to say in the interview.

Kathryn also told TODAY that she likes to walk her dog, and move her body as often as possible.

“I do like to break a sweat for my mental health. It’s good to move,” she advised. “I take a class called Pop Physique. It’s only an hour. It hits every part but not all at the same time. I like it. It’s like a meditation.”

Invest In An Inexpensive Foam Roller

“You know how we spend so much time curled over our devices? Well, a foam roller can help with that,” she shared with The Strategist in 2018. “Somebody — maybe a yoga teacher — told me this when I was in college.”

“If you just lie on it with your arms up, your spine opens up,” she explained. “You start to widen your shoulders and you counteract all the slouching. It feels like a massage.”

You don’t have to spend a lot to get a lot out of a foam roller either — Kathryn’s had the same one since college and it only cost her $20.

“I don’t remember where it is from,” she admitted. “[But] if you go online, search for a foam roller, and pick the first one you see, you’ll probably be satisfied.”

Don’t worry, we did it for you. Try: Circuit Therapy Foam Roller ($10 from Big W)

Create A Sleep Ritual That Works For You

If you’re working out, not getting enough sleep can impact your body’s ability to repair itself, and ultimately lead to fatigue and injury whilst exercising.

Kathryn is a self-proclaimed light sleeper, so she employs the help of sleep aids in order to ensure she gets some shut eye.

If you’re a side-sleeper like she is, Kathryn swears by a pillowed sleeping mask like the Kitsch Satin Pillow Eye Mask ($20 from Adore Beauty).

“A regular eye mask just has an elastic band around your head, but this one is cushioned all the way around, so it’s super-comfortable when I’m lying on my side,” she shared with The Strategist. “It feels like heaven or like I’m in one of those sensory-deprivation tanks. And if I put earplugs in, forget it — it’s like I’m in outer space.”

“I started wearing earplugs in college,” Kathryn explained, saying she prefers to buy cheap foam earplugs in bulk, because she can still hear through them. “I have a fan on when I sleep, too. I need the white noise to fall asleep, but because I’m such a light sleeper, I won’t stay asleep unless I have earplugs.”

The final piece in Kathryn’s sleep ritual puzzle is a weighted blanket, which her husband gifted to her during the pandemic.

“[It’s] especially nice because it’s aesthetically pleasing. I was very happy my husband took that into consideration,” she joked. “It’s breathable and good for all seasons. I don’t get so hot with it, so I can use it in the summer. I take the greatest naps of my life with this thing.”

Want to get the best sleep of your life? Try: Mack’s Ultra Foam Ear Plugs ($6.50 from Woolworths) and Dreamz Knitted Weighted Blanket ($63.99 from Kogan).

Agatha All Along is now streaming in Australia exclusively on Disney+ with new episodes every Thursday.
