Let’s face it, it’s easy to get a little down in the dumps during winter. The weather is dreary, it’s darker earlier and you probably spend more time drinking hot chocolate than enjoying the great outdoors. When it comes to beauty, you’d be forgiven for neglecting your regimen in winter (why shave your legs when it’s too cold to wear a skirt, am I right?), which can also lead to a beauty slump. But fear not ladies, we’re here to salvage your sass and reinstate your summer glow! Check out our four tips for beating the winter slump.

#1 Have a pamper sesh
Is there anything more effective at lifting your mood than a good old pamper session? We think not. Get your bath bombs out, mix some essential oils and give yourself a real at-home spa treatment. Not sure what you need in your kit? We’ve got you…
L’OCCITANE Lavender Foaming Bath, Skin Nutrient Firming and Lifting Face Mask, Oil Garden Bamboo Ultra Sonic Vaporiser and LUSH Goddess Bath Bomb.
#2 Try a little top-to-toe maintenance
When you’re a beauty-lover, you know that when you look good, you feel good. Taking care of your body and ensuring your beauty maintenance doesn’t fall behind in winter will keep you in high spirits and help prevent the dreaded slump! Nixing your hairy legs might not be necessary, but is there anything more satisfying than jumping into bed with freshly smooth skin? We don’t think so! Regular hair treatments won’t go astray either – winter weather wreaks havoc on your locks! Here’s what you need:
Andrea Brazilian Hard Wax, Natio Spa Papaya & Cane Sugar Gentle Body Exfoliant, Tribe Skincare Fruit Tingle! Body Moisturiser and Kérastase Discipline Maskertine.
#3 Give your health a much-needed boost
Winter means the flu season and no matter how strong your immune defences are, it’s likely the sniffles will hit at some point during the cooler months. And even if you manage to escape sickness, fatigue just seems more prevelant this time of year. Luckily, there are ways you can shorten your sickness and strengthen your immunity and energy-levels. Meet your winter health care kit:
Mānuka Health Immune Response, Oil Garden Breathe Easier Roll On, Swisse UB Immune Defence Herbal Hot Drink and Naturopathica Horny Goat Weed For Her.
#4 Treat yourself to a beauty overhaul
One of our favourite ways to kick a winter slump in the butt is to splurge on new beauty products. One surefire way to lift any beauty-lover’s spirits is with a shiny new palette, fancy new skin care or a smooth, flawless foundation. Here are a few products that we are loving (some have just hit the shelves!).
Kosmea Eighth Natural Wonder ® Revitalising Facial Serum, Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Fluid Powder Foundation SPF20, NARS Paradise Found Bronzing Powder ($72, Mecca), FOREO UFO 2 ($395, Sephora) and Sephora Collection Gleaming Stones Slim Eyeshadow Palette ($32, Sephora).

What are your top tips for beating the winter slump?
Yes pamper sessions are my favourite!
Don’t forget breathing exercises and stuff to help with mental health
I love baths all year round! Trying to work through my stash of bath bombs (hmm, I did a typo on bombs and it suggest ‘no abs’ – I think my iPad is trying to tell me something!)
I still get out and walk my dog, umbrella in hand if need be. It’s just lovely in the super fresh clean air.
Pamper sessions all the way! Great alternatives
I absolutely hate winter. I’ve always struggled with the cold. Yuck!
Not a fan of winter, it’s already so cold and I don’t like it. I just want to stay in bed
I find that if I keep up my exercise routine it helps with my mood. It’s so hard to get motivated in Winter, though!
A pamper session sounds like a great idea. I actually hibernate during Winter. I can’t stand the cold.
Lots of nourishing and soothing facial oils and lots of tea!
Love some of these products.
Warm steamy showers, hair masks and foot care are my pampers in Winter. I do try to exercise outside, once I’m started and warm up it makes me feel so much better.
Really need this
Definitely doing the pampering sessions with Cloth Masks with anti-aging properties and doing my nails keeping yourself well moisturised all over.
Always great to have Soft and Smooth Skin.
No Winter slump here. I love the cooler weather. I am actually making sure that I use all my different eye makeup palettes in a rotation rather then just sticking to one or two. This is something im really working on at the moment so they all get used and not overlooked.
Love her cat mug!!
Hot drinks and hot soups for me!
Winter is the time when I dread using sheet masks. It always makes my face feel cold.
Hmmm a bath and a shopping spree sound like a good idea!
I love a bath when its cold
I love these ideas (and that Sephora palette 🙂 ).
I don’t do slumps. Can’t relate.
I love winter! I don’t understand people… All four seasons have something:)
Some good suggestions there.
Lavender is so calming and smells so nice, uplifting
Doesn’t get cold where I live in winter anyway.
Pamper sessions always great in any season!!
My top tip to beat the winter slump… HIBERNATE!!! Ha ha!!!
Ha ha yeh seems like the thing to do! ; )
A heater in the bathroom to help cope with Melbourne winters
listening to upbeat music and dancing are good ways to lift spirits and keep warm.
It is just hard to keep dancing, but the nice warm feeling after a good bit of moving around is worth it
All great ideas
I was reading an article today about when you look good, you feel good by applying makeup even if you are by yourself whilst in isolation. Who knew?
Nice hot shower and hot coffee for me.
Hot chocolate, hot shower they make me happy any day in winter.
I’m all for hibernation.
All great ideas, I personally love being all cozy on the couch with the dogs and my SO.
I love using body scrubs and nourishing body oils in winter, as well as getting pedicures. I get such dry skin in winter, so anything that is super moisturising makes me feel good through winter. I also love getting a new hair colour in winter, it just helps to change things up a little.
Every day is pamper day at the moment
I go through a summer slump every year, so I’m much more active during winter. If it’s cool enough to wear my boots, I’m happy.
I’m the reverse, I mostly hibernate throughout summer.
Managed to mulch around my little baby vegies in my vegie patch this morning before the rain set in. Hopefully they’ll grow better now they are all tucked in and nice and warm!
A pamper session, top to toe maintenance and a health boost are all great ways for me to beat the winter slump. I have tried the Dove Treatment Conditioner.
Every day and night is pamper time in lockdown.
Yes, to all but makeup. Can’t be bothered with makeup atm.
Some winter pampering gets me out of a slump.
love some pampering latley
I still dont have time for a pamper sesh! but beauty products are a great way to beat any slump but not so good for the bank balance.
Also love “Friends” only wish that the kids were older as some of the episodes can provoke awkward questions from the kids.
I just need to put on a mask
Firming and lifting mask sounds good.
Love this article! Super motivating to give a little beauty and self love inspo.
