A scrub a day

A scrub a day

I love a good scrub. I’m not talking your standard melt-on-the-skin, moisturising beads sort of thing – what I love is good old, get right in there, mechanical scrubbing. I like to feel my scrubs work for their money and find it strangely satisfying to stand in the shower buffing, exfoliating and polishing my dry dead skin away. But my bizarre scrub obsession is harder to fulfil than you might think. Some scrubs are too rough, some are too gentle – what I’m looking for is the one that is just right.

Enter SkinWear Exfoliating Buffa Bar. This handy little tool features a cleansing soap on one side and an exfoliating sponge on the other. Not only does it smell beyond amazing (think summer mangos and you’re on the right track) but the sponge gets down deep to rid you of any rough patches in seconds. As you use it, it forms a rich, creamy lather so there’s no need to worry about a separate body wash (which is fab for those time-poor beauties like myself).

Another scrub that has had me a bit excited is the Ahava Uplifting Butter Salt. Also with a delicious scent (this time we’re talking mandarin – yum!), this scrub still has a strong mechanical action thanks to the Dead Sea salts. Plus it contains natural oils and anti-ageing dunaliella seaweed to hydrate skin and give it a silky finish.

But a good scrub means nothing without a decent moisturiser to finish off. My fave at the moment? Be Genki Vitality Body Cream. Non-greasy and super rich, it is enriched with delicious essential oils of peppermint, lemon, rosemary and eucalyptus to help give you an early morning pick-me-up.

So if you haven’t discovered the beauty of the scrub, you need to. Now. With summer practically here already and all that shaving, waxing and depilation going on, your skin is likely to be crying out for a decent buffing. Need another reason? Lack of exfoliation can lead to folliculitis, which is very nasty indeed.

I really meant it when I said I love a good scrub.
