There are always plenty of articles, photos and debates about models, actresses and musicians who represent an unhealthy body image. In my opinion, there are too many.
Instead of focusing on the negative side of weight and body image, women (and men) should be focusing on the positive. And what better place to start than by asking the beautyheaven members which celebrities they believe represent a positive body image. Of course, as always, they went above and beyond, not only naming role models but also giving great advice on how they maintain confidence and a positive body image:
“I think Eva Mendes looks great and has a fantastic attitude, besides being beautiful. I admire anyone who is confident about the way they look, regardless of their weight. It’s inner attitude that will keep you going and ready to face the world. And it lasts much longer than outer beauty.” –CherryBlossom
“I really love Robyn Lawley, she’s Australian and an ‘average’ size. She has a great blog ‘Robyn Lawley Eats’ where she posts about meals she has created, and they are certainly not all ‘healthy’, just purely food! She is also firmly against the ‘thigh gap’ trend!” –Imi11
“I love Jennifer Lawrence because she’s adorable and funny and real! I think great role models in the media are when an actress or singer or whoever comes out and says it takes work to look like this. It’s not lemon juice in water or activated almonds or 10 hours sleep. It’s exercise, healthy food, make-up, fat sucking underwear, lighting, photoshop and sometimes hard work!” –Bee1
“I admire hardworking ‘normal’ people who have a healthy approach when it comes to looking and feeling great and not wanting to achieve an unhealthy number on the scale.” –Animal lover
“Jessica Biel, yes she is on the slimmer side but admits it’s because she works out often and eats healthy, not because of some new miracle diet.” –Jessica712
“I look up to Jessica Alba. She gives really helpful dieting and exercising advice and her beauty and fashion sense really gets me motiviated” –Tee631
“Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson and Jessica Alba. All are healthy and not stick thin.” –jennie
“Being healthy is not just body size, it is a holistic thing from eating to exercise to stress and sleep. Therefore, I look up to the ones who make an effort to educate people about how to lead a healthy lifestyle. For example Michelle Obama who pushed for all the above and Tracy Anderson who gave sensible advice against fad diets.” –Tara163
