A new bottle of nail polish can be likened to a new man. You spot them across the room, your eyes meet and you can’t help but notice how large their package is (and in this industry, size does matter), you try to play it cool but all the while your hands are sweating from anticipation, in a rush of anticipation you swap numbers (credit card numbers that is). Finally you get to take them home and put them to use and it’s amazing, you fit together like a glove; you’re in the honey-moon phase where you can’t help but look at you lovely digits every five seconds with a look of absolute bliss that non-nail-fanatics just don’t understand.
Here’s when it might turn sour. You start to notice cracks in the relationship, that they don’t smell as sweet as originally thought. Despite their promises, they fail to last the suggested ‘seven days’ or dry within five seconds. You try to fix the problems, but realise sweeping them under the rug (or another coat of nail polish) isn’t going to fix anything. In a fit of disappointment, you both agree that it’s time to move on.
Thankfully, here’s where Rimmel Fruities in Cranberry Zest is different. It’s quick drying which is perfect for people like me who can’t handle the waiting time, but still want and long-lasting relationship and you only require one coat for a super vibrant summery colour. The brush is fairly large so you can get nice even coverage from one to two swipes.
As the name suggests Cranberry Zest promises as berrylicious smell when dry and while the smell is less like fresh fruit and more like sweet candy it is just strong enough to act as a perfume on your digits. Unfortunately the nail polish smell still smells horrid before it’s dry.
The bottle says chip resistant for up to five days, (but I opted for a top coat anyway, which doesn’t diminish the berry smell at all- I also tried it with OPI shatter and it smelt fresh for around five days). By day six it was starting to chip, but regular application of a top coat can easily extend your manicure by days.
At the low price of $5.95 Rimmel Fruities is a quick and cheap way to embrace the bright colour blocking trend for Summer! Nail polish is quickly becoming the it accessory, so while sniffing your fingers may look weird, don’t let other peoples jealous stares prevent you from making full use of your sweet smelling digits!
