Don’t get me wrong, I would love to embrace each and every trend. But there are only so many days in a week (not to mention dollars in my bank account). Which is why, with our ‘What’s Trending series’, we like to focus on just a select few of our favourites.
Watch the video above for the beautyheaven team’s special edit of what’s trending this month (including my own take on the latest happenin’ hairstyle!), then scroll down for the products you need to nail your #1 look…
Holographic everything
Holographic hues are everywhere at the moment. From holographic hair to holographic makeup and even body scrub, the flashy colour scheme is a little bit pretty, a little bit futuristic and a whole lot of fun. beautyheaven can’t go past a sweep of shimmery, holographic highlighter on the cheekbones. Or, if holographic hair and makeup seems a bit too full on, try a subtler nod to the trend with some holographic nail polish.
Embrace holographic hues: Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette ($50, sephora.com.au), Revlon Transforming Effects Top Coats in Holographic Pearls, Frank Body Shimmer Scrub ($19.95, frankbody.com)

Micellar shampoo
If you like micellar water, you’d be crazy not to give micellar shampoos a go. Just like their skin care counterparts, the formulas are designed to thoroughly clean your hair and remove dirt and impurities, without stripping its moisture levels. Currently, the majority of micellar shampoos are only available overseas – but watch this space, we’re expecting more of them to hit the shelves in Australia in the coming months.
Micelles for your mane: Kerastase Aura Botanica Bain Micellaire Shampoo, Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Micellar Shampoo () Redken Clean Maniac (on counter overseas in June).

Cactus for hydration
Hydrating ingredients found in the water storage plants, such as prickly pear, aloe vera, and cactus flower, are featuring in stacks of skin care and hair care products right now. Why? Well, without getting too science-y, these ingredients contain high levels of amino acids, such as glutamine, which means they have an amazing ability to moisturise and soothe skin and hair. beautyheaven’s Astrid is a huge fan of R+Co Cactus Texturising Shampoo ($34.05, saksfifthavenue.com), but there’s also face moisturiser, makeup remover and hydrating face mists to try!
Go crazy for cactus: Huxley Grab Water Essence ($77.49 approx, glowrecipe.com), De Lorenzo Instant Allevi8 Shampoo, Aveda Green Science™ Firming Face Creme

Space buns
Space buns were everywhere at Coachella, so it’s no surprise that they’re taking over Instagram. From all-up buns to half-up, half-down styles, this hairstyle is surprisingly versatile (you can even wear it with a glitter part!). Watch the video above to see my simple version of the style, or, if the high-up buns are a little too girl-ish for your liking, try wearing them lower at the nape of your neck (without the glitter) for a more sophisticated take.
Bring on the buns: ghd Tail Comb, Scunci No-Slip Grip Bobby Pins, Lady Jayne Snagless Hair Elastics
