There’s nothing worse than hands that smell like the ingredients of last night’s dinner. Onion, garlic, fish and seafood can linger on your skin for hours – if not days – after you’ve handled them. So no matter how silky smooth your hands may be, every time your paws pass your nose (or the noses of others!) they’ll leave you gagging with the stench of stale food.
So what can you do to avoid smelly hands? Well for one, you can opt to wear gloves when handling certain strong-smelling foods, as this will stop them from penetrating your skin and leaving a lingering smell. But if, like me, you’re not a fan of this option (I can’t stand cooking with gloves!) then you’ll need a cure, rather than a preventative.
Here are a few of our remedies for getting your hands smelling fresh in a sec…
Dissolve two tablespoons of baking soda into a glass of water and soak your hands in it for up to a minute.
Apple cider vinegar also works a treat if you splash a little on your hands and then pat them dry.
Another tried and tested method is to rub a stainless steel spoon (or other utensil) over your hands while washing them. Don’t ask us how this works, but it does!
And finally, investing in a great smelling soap will always help! We love:Burt’s Bees Green Tea & Lemongrass Liquid Hand Soap, and Palmolive Odour Neutralising Liquid Handwash.
