Shaving our legs isn’t exactly a crowd favourite beauty chore, so when the time comes, most of us want to make it count.
But this doesn’t just mean nailing our shaving technique. Good Housekeeping reports it can also come down to the time of day we choose to shave!

According to the publication, the “optimum time of day” to de-fuzz your legs is at night – preferably right before bed.

Why? Well, according to beauty experts, “Our legs become warm and swell slightly as we sleep, which means that little hairs retreat back into their follicles and are less obvious.”
This means that if you reach for your razor in the AM, your legs will feel smoother than they actually are, resulting in a less-than-perfect shave.
But that’s not all: The cold air outside can then cause your pores and skin to tighten, meaning those pesky hairs will reappear and feel more prickly.
Now, if you’re an avid reader of bh, you might recall I recommended the exact opposite earlier in the year, arguing in favour of maximum daylight hours of hairless legs. On the one hand, I still stand by my argument: Especially if you’re in a situation where as long as you don’t look like a yeti, you can survive without perfectly smooth pins.
But if you’re thinking ahead and want to remove as much hair as possible, shaving the night before could be the way to go! Hey, at least it’s good news for those of us who prefer to shower at night!
