Solast week I pledged I would undergo a major mane metamorphosis.
Typically – following months of naughty behaviour and disobeying all appeals to grace my head as requested – as soon as I booked my hair appointment, my unruly locks started behaving themselves! The anxiety began to creep in….
So on Monday my nerves and I shuffled into Suki Hairdressing Salon, in Paddington, Sydney, where the lovely Brett soon put my mind at ease. We discussed (complete with colour chart and magazine clippings) what I imagined for my mop, and more importantly what style would flatter my face shape, and what shade of red (as this was the only hue I hadn’t donned, I was pretty eager on going rouge) would compliment my skin tone.
I then sat back sipping my complimentary coffees with a stack of mags while Brett’s fingers worked their magic! Half an hour later my split ends had vanished and in their place was a gorgeous gradient bob with sweeping side fringe. I loved it!
Then it was on to the colour; following numerous home dyes, my existing colour resembled somewhat of an upside-down balayage, light brown/coppery at the top and almost black at the bottom. (Apparently this self-started ‘trend’ never really took off!).
Brett used a special treatment to lighten the ends, which doesn’t strip the hair of colour but instead lifts the dye from each strand; ensuring hair isn’t left dried out and damaged. The dye was followed by a gloss and then onto my absolute favourite part of any trip to the salon, a deep condition and a simply delightful head massage – bliss.
So here it is, my brand new ‘do! It feels light, in great condition and is so easy to manage… but most importantly, it has satisfied that niggling desire for change!

What do you do when you fancy a revamp?
