Creamy blushes and bronzers are often pushed aside when it comes time to put ones’ face on. This is due to their fickle nature – sometimes absorbent and prettifying, other times floaty and oily on the skin.
I sought the help of renowned make-up artist Nicole Groch, to help me discover the secrets to the beauty innovation that I’m not afraid to admit has had me pretty stumped, until now…
Groch says, “To apply a creamy blush or bronzer, it’s best to either have foundation-free skin or a very sheer coating of foundation on the areas where you intend to put your cream colour. You don’t want skin too greasy or too dry or flaky, as it will give a very uneven look.”
As the old saying goes, ‘it’s easier to add more than take away’, so I, (bh’s Olivia) always recommend starting with less. Place a sultana-sized amount on the apples of your cheeks and smile wide. Using circular motions, rub the cream into your skin, edging a little further out which each circle but making sure the blush doesn’t go further than the outer edges of your apples.
Cream blush is also great as it absorbs further into the skin than a powder, thus giving a very natural ‘blush’ and a subtle glow too. (Try it: Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup In Touch Cream Blush is my fail-safe pick.)
